Shipping Label - Proverbs 3:5-6
73
I was reading Proverbs 3:5-6 this morning and thought I would share how I saw it. So I offer to you not a lot of writer’s flair today, but varied reflections that reveals my thought process as I read the Word of God.
The New King James Version reads this way:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Here is how I processed it this morning:
Trust in the LORD [Let go of you and rely on God. Be assured in His strength and lean on His truth. Place your confidence in Him. Hope in His deliverance and rest in His Omnipotence.]
With all your heart [Trust him with the very lifeblood of your being. Trust Him as you would trust the ability of your heart to pump life into your body. Trust Him with your strongest emotion, with courage and ardor, with love and affectionate submission; trust Him with your innermost character and being. Trust Him with a basic essentiality. Trust Him with your life.]
And lean not on your own understanding. [Don’t rely on what makes sense to you. Don’t be inclined to follow your own patterns of thinking. Don’t place your faith in the things you can comprehend, or explain or interpret. Don't shift to fallible mindsets and imperfect systems. Don't wink at a relationship with self, i.e. self-sustainment or self-reliance - the kind that leaves Him out.
But in all your ways acknowledge Him. [Recognize the LORD in every movement of your day. See Him in your ability to breathe. Realize He has the authority, and rights and privileges and power over your life. Take notice of His presence in your life. Express your gratitude for Him. Declare He is LORD and admit that it is He who gives you strength to do all things. Know Him intimately and acquiesce to His omniscience.]
And He will direct your paths {or make your paths straight}. [He will bring you to your appointed goal, removing the obstacles and making the rocky roads smooth along the way of a pilgrim’s life. He will always take you in the direction that is ultimately best for you. He will navigate and lead you down a trodden way – a track prepared by Him and constructed especially for you. He will mark your destination with His name and address on your shipping label; and then He will ensure that you arrive. He will keep you on a straight course as He shows you the way.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart!

Jill - I just bet that if that day ever comes when I make it up your way and we can sit down over a cup of coffee that it will be like sitting with an old friend. You are such an encourager for me and I believe a kindred spirit. I thank God for you! Blessings, my friend.
Great Hub coffeesnob...an interesting and insightful hub and one I will be looking at again this evening.
I find myself a transplant in the US tonight, in Montana for a day and heading home tomorrow. Great to be hubbing from the south.
Blessings as always
Hey Quill! Welcome for the day hope your travels back are safe. Blessings
Great insight and so true! Something I need reminding of frequently: I will trust in the Lord and not lean on my own understanding! thanks!
Fabulous - just what I needed to hear - thank you and God bless
LordSeeker - me too. I need to be reminded to trust in the Lord.
JoSmart. thanks for being here and taking the time to read. Be blessed
What a sneak you are Carol. You sneaky some flair in there when no one was looking. Some of the most profound teaching is in the simple truth looking at God's word. I know that others see this, too. Trusting in the Lord should be easy. Like it should have been easy for Israel. They saw the sea parted. They saw the Egyptian armies drown. They saw the Chakina Glory cloud over them. We too see things that should make it easy. We see the testimony of the Spirit of God. We see people who were dead in trespass and sin come to life in Christ. We see evidence everyday of God intervening in our lives in a supernatural way and yet our trust in Him wanes. What we really know today fades and has to be reinforced later. O wretched man I am. Who will deliver me from this body of death? Praise God who gives us the victory in Jesus! Love you, you, you sneaky sister.
NB
Sneaky? LOL
We all have to be constantly reminded, which is why God brought this verse, that I have known for so long, to plain view for me to see [again] and He expounded on it through the Holy Spirit to make sure I got it! I am so glad He is longsuffering - aren't you.
Very nice hub. Good reminder.
I just love to meditate on Gods word. this is beautiful!
Pamela and UPStar - thanks for your support and encouragement. Meditating on God's word is bountiful indeed.
Thank you for this fine message from Proverbs. I enjoyed it and can't get enough of it.
James,
You are so kind - than you very much - It is a great lift from the Scritures -don't you think?
YES!!!
I like how you defined this scripture:) I know whenever I have leaned to my own understanding about things I dont understand? :) It just got me in trouble, I would fall into a depression trying to figure things out. There are just some things we may never know till we reach The Heavens one day:)

What a beautiful insight coffeesnob! Your understanding resonates with mine but I will never be able to express it as beautifully as you did it here.
I love your photos too! I love the way you used them to illustrate your idea of trodden path and shipping label! I really like that idea - shipping label!
