Both of these designer items I bought for 20.00 each. They are valued at 150.00.

Build Your Inventory.

This is a sequel to my first Hub which discussed redirecting your shopping addiction to making money instead of always spending it. Once you have gone through your own closet and that of family and friends it is time to step it up a notch to your favorite thing.....actual shopping!!

You will need to build inventory now that all your handbags, shoes, jewelry and extras are sold. This will be a little different for you because shopping generally is focused on things you like. This type of shopping will focus not only what you like but what others around the country might like. Don't get ahead of yourself stick to what you know. If you know designer shoes stick to shoes, if you know handbags stick to handbags. Don't go buying a set of power tools because they are a good deal. Remember focus the addiction for the betterment of your business.

Where to Go.

There are many avenues you can go down. I have my own favorites. You will find yours. I have very good luck at TJ MAXX and Marshalls. Tag sales, estate sales and auctions can also yield great finds. However, a potential eBay sale item can be found anywhere so keep your eyes pealed. They key is patience, a good eye and frequency. All of which should be of no problem for an experienced shopper.

You must troll the racks. If you have even a slight shopping addiction you will love this part. The need to shop is being fulfilled and the thought of a potential sale all at one time....a great feeling! I recommend only the sale racks. Otherwise you may find yourself getting distracted by all the bargains that you might like. Go through one by one. After time you will find items by look, fabric, style or designer that you recognize as sellers. Just because something is cheap does not mean it will sell. I believe eBay is representative of the public retail market place. If it is trendy it will sell. If it is outdated it usually will not unless it is "vintage". Don't buy everything you see. Start out slow and get your feet wet. I guarantee you when you have had a successful inventory shopping day your needs will be more than fulfilled.

My own bag that is about to go up for auction.

Some designers have great resale potential.
Some designers have great resale potential.

What to Buy.

Buy things that are really cheap, have the designer tags and prices listed. The higher the retail tag shows vs. the price you pay the better. Just because you pay 20.00 for a shirt if its retail is 45.00 that is not a great item to sell. An item that says 140.00 and you pay 20.00 then that is the item for you. Your inner shopper will come out and guide you through this process.

A store tag alone is not worth much butag is best. At some of these stores the designer tags are missing. For exampe, a Michael Kors tag showing the retail price will yield you a lot more than a TJ Max tag. Buy what you think people want. People always want a bargain. Guilty pleasures sell handbags, shoes, jewelry and clothes. Trendy hip styles. There is a giant market for sensible everyday items. It is just not my arena so I am not the best person to write about them. Now, just because you don't like an item another person might, especially if they are from another part of the country. Don't let your opinions get in the way. For example there are designers that consumers from the eastc coast may not consider "hip". I can tell you from my own experience the midwest or northeast may love them. Think big picture.

If you are having trouble deciding what to buy take some time to really study what sells on eBay. Bring a pad to the store and write down items and prices and check them when you get home on eBay. What is hot, what gets lots of bids and what selling prices are. This may not give you great satisfaction but eventually it will pay off and that "old feeling" willbe back.

I sold this bag for more than paid several years earlier.

Finally.

Once you have bought your items, taken pictures, written great descriptions using words such as great, hip and deal, vintage you are ready to list on eBay and start making money for further shopping satisfaction. Your adrenaline will soar as bids come in on your items, people start to out bid each other and you make money off their need to shop and out bid.

When all is said and done at the end of the day you have opened your mind to something different, dabbled in a new business, used computer skills, and hopefully earned a bit of cash. Now shoppers go to it!!!!!!

great ideas. This hub can be life-saving to me if I can figure out how I can talk my wife into this. But the talking might have killed me already. Any ideas?

Your friends must envy you for all the beautiful bags you bought! If you dont tell them that you buy and sell, they probably think that you are rich.
