Installed IceStone Countertops

What is IceStone?

If you're thinking about remodeling your kitchen or bathroom and are concerned about the environmental impact of various building materials, IceStone is a green alternative that you might want to consider. In addition to being environmenally friendly and durable, it is available in 27 different standard colors, so there's sure to be one that will go with your decor.

IceStone is a strong, durable material for countertops, floors and wall coverings that is made from recycled glass and concrete. It is as strong and beautiful as granite, but less porous than marble. In addition to countertops and floors, it can also be used to create backsplashes, vanities, bathroom dividers and tabletops.

The company produces IceStone in 52 1/2" x 96" x 1 1/4" slabs. It is then sold to fabricators and distributors who make it into beautiful countertops and other items using standard stone cutting tools.

Caring for Your IceStone Countertops

IceStone needs to be sealed according to the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent staining. You should check with the fabricator or the contractor who installs your countertops to make sure they have been treated before using your new countertops.

Once sealed, you should clean your countertops daily with a mild, low-ph cleanser. Using harsh chemical cleaners on the material can strip the finish and allow stains to appear on the surface.

Where to Buy IceStone Custom Countertops

IceStone countertops are available through many custom kitchen design and installation companies. Check your local yellow pages and call to see if the companies listed there work with IceStone.

Some of the companies I have found online that offer custom IceStone countertops are:

Corinthian Custom Countertops - Corinthian has been dedicated to the highest quality fabrication and installation of countertops, sinks and vanities for kitchen and bath for thirty years. Their craftsmen work with the best materials the industry has to offer. They are located in Allendale, NJ.

NBC Solid Surfaces - Located in Springfield, Vermont, NBC Solid Surfaces is New England's premier countertop fabricator and installation expert.

Apex Marble & Granite - Morrisville, NC-based Apex Marble & Granite offers custom countertops and cabinetry.

Check with your local building supply companies and contractors who do kitchen remodeling to see if they can get IceStone material for your countertops.

IceStone absolutely stains. 2 minutes of spilled olive brine on 2 layer freshly sealed IceStone left visible stain, persistent even after heavy washing with soap, etc. I am very, very disappointed with this material.
