We live in a world that is doing more and more things online. One of the biggest trends, that is constantly becoming bigger is shopping online. People are discovering all the perks and conveniences that make online shopping so popular.

I personally love shopping online. I love that you can find anything online and you never even have to change out of your pajamas. I get a lot of my daughters clothes online because I can find incredible deals that save me tons of money. I also have a husband that is obsessed with sports and many of his favorite teams are impossible to find memorabilia and apparel for in the area that I live in. With online shopping I am able to buy these things for my husband and while I do have to pay for shipping and handling, it is definitely worth the few extra bucks.

While online shopping has many benefits, there are also some downfalls as well. One of the biggest downfalls is the ease hackers have of gaining you personal information. I know about this all to well. One year my husband and I were at a mall doing some Christmas shopping and our credit card was denied, we came to find out that someone have gotten our credit card information and had spent $1500 dollars over three transactions. Luckily we didn’t have to pay it, but it still scared me enough that I began to take my online safety more seriously. It wasn’t until awhile later that I found out about the benefits of shopping on a site that uses PCI Scanning.

There are many ways to help protect yourself when you are shopping online, and I take them all seriously. One of the most important ways I feel like I can protect myself is to only shop on a site if I know that they are using PCI Scanning. This tells me that not only am I doing what I can on my end to protect myself, but the company is also doing what it can to protect me as well. It is definitely worth the extra time and effort to find out if a site is PCI Compliant.
