Leather jacket is a stiff jacket. made from thick leather, created in 1915 at United States by the firm Schott and manufactured by that firm from 1928 as the first jacket for motorcyclists   It has a cross-closure zipper on the front, doubling the thickness of leather to better protect the torso; thick collar to avoid heavy shock into the hard surface and a yoke in the back to set the belt that keeps the jacket on the kidneys.    Although most lethaer jackets are black, there are also brown, red, white colors. You can also find jacket made from other materials such as jeans or vinyl.  



It generally very resilient, the leather jacket were first used as protection by the bikers, before becoming a part of rocker fashion (often covered with badges in the 80s) in the 1950s and early 1960, under the influence of actors like Marlon Brando (The Wild Fitted 1953), Michael Pare or James Dean. In the 1970s, the series Happy Days, with setting in the years 1950/60.

In the 1970s with the explosion of the punk movement, leather jacket is spreading again, through groups like the Ramones or turbulent Sid Vicious, often DIYmodified : Adding chains, buttons and paint. It is still found in movies of the 1980s, for example in the film Terminator. Today leather jackets are used by motorcycle police in USA. One of the most known brand is Leather Bomber Jacket
