Should Susan Boyle Have Won Britains Got Talent?

Susan Boyle captured the attention of the world, first because of her looks, but then because of her voice. We all had to dig deep within ourselves and admit that we all thought she was, well, homely.
Thank God she could sing like an angel so we all had an excuse to cheer for her and not have to deal with the fact we were all superficial people. But was her hag to riches story enough to win Britains Got Talent? Well, it should have been.
By now you know that Susan Boyle finished second behind British dance troupe Diversity. I really believe she should have won but her final performance clearly showed she was cracking under pressure. The good news is that nobody that wins these shows like American Idol ever goes on to do much. It is the runner up who always gets the big career boost. Perhaps it's the fact that the winner gets immediately wrapped up in a horrible enslaving contract with the show which holds them back.
So Boyle is probably lucky with the number two slot and she's probably fielding offers right now. She is really a gifted singer, and the simple life she has led to this point endears her to us all. I hope she makes millions of dollars and accepts all offers except from the one we all know will be coming from Playboy Magazine. Yuck!

After Susan Boyle's final performance it was clear the judges wanted her to win. Piers Morgan said he should be impartial but that she had just done the best performance in Britains Got Talent History. I'm not sure what Amanda Holden said because I was too busy staring at her, but Simon Cowell, in his condescending way, managed a few compliments and clearly believed she was about to win this thing.

True Lucey, there have been a few winners that have made it, but I really think the runners up have had more commercial success overall. I really hope Susan Boyle gets to continue to sing and has a positive career ahead of her. But we will see what the vultures have in store. You're right on with that point.
I have to admit I haven't followed her rise to fame as closely as many other people, however I think anyone who has not heard her sing is truly missing out. I will say her story is extremely motivational in that she is living proof you can achieve your dreams at any age.
Susan should have won! she is such a humble, down to earth person. She has talent. Diversity were good but they should have not won. Susan was just great!!. susan does not need to worry becausee she is a superstar around the world and for sure she will crack America and will sell millions of records.
Dear Tulwave, Over the past week I have been struggling to understand why Adam Lambert lost American Idol to the inferior Kris Allen and now I'm struggling to understand why Susan Boyle lost to the inferior diversity. Could the results have been rigged by the TV networks so that they'd have a winner who matched their corporate images? Nevertheless, we must appreciate these shows for giving such unique and telented individuals the chance to share their precious gifts with the world. Thanks, Dawei888 :-) PS - I have a strong feeling the Queen will give Ms. Boyle a special invitation to perform for her at Buckingham Palace.

I disagree that winners of these types of reality show's don't go on to do much....Look at Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkston. They have done very well for themselves. However, I think Susan Boyle will not only gain in popularity due to her voice but also because of her diminished look as well. She will be hard pressed not to be swept up by the vultures of the industry who want to try to make a buck off of her. I think she should have one, hands down. I hope she is a successful as she wants to be. I wish her all the best.
