Aimée and Renee

It is not a wide-spread phenomenon but some women over 50 are having themselves pierced and tattoos etched into their bodies, and the question is, 'is this OK?'

In Montreal Quebec, Aimée, who is just 51, has always been a rebel, according to her husband Renee, and so it didn't surprise him when his wife came home one day with a silver button pierced onto her lower lip and another on the tip of her tongue.

"I was shock!" said Renee, who's English is not completely fluent. "I see my Aimée come in the door smiling and dis metal t'ing attach to her lip and then she open her mouth and another in there on her tongue!"

At first Renee was furious and demanded she have them removed, but, according to Aimée he soon changed his tune when he discovered the advantages in the bedroom that her new 'addons' could be used for.

Suffice it to say that Renee had some similar piercings attached to his tongue and now they claim to be having a second honeymoon, and finding themselves feeling like rebellious teenagers again. Not bad for a couple in their '60's.

Christians and Tattoos

Should Christians get tattoos?

What does the Bible say about it?

Constanza

55 year old Constanza, of Taos, New Mexico, has led a rather sedentary life, being a secretary to a Geico insurance branch for a number of years. Unmarried, but certainly not un-attractive, Constanza's love life had much to be desired, mostly because she scarred men off with her ultra-conservative attitudes, which really she didn't so much believe in as use to keep away intimacy.

One day, on her lunch break, Constanza says: "I was just passing this new store-front near my work, when I saw a sign in the window that said 'If you think tattoos are just for teens, you don't know what you are missing!' Something stirred inside of me", she said "and I just found myself going in and asking for tattoo on my neck...before I knew it I was going back there every couple of days to get another little rose, or little flower drawn on different parts of my body, and soon I had about ten all over the place."

It was when her boss, Andrew started to notice these little etchings in Constanza's body that he began acting somewhat different around her. Apparently he started to see her more as an object of beauty, a woman with compelling features, which she was, and not just a dictation machine, which she wasn't.

In Constanza's case, the tattoos relesed in her something that she simply couldn't realize any other way. They were the catalyst to a whole new way of being for her.

Some Risks of Body Piercing to Keep in Mind

While body piercing can enliven your life, like it did for the women above, you should know that there are some important health and safety factors to be aware of.

A professional body piercer is your best bet because there are  risks for bacterial infections that a non-professional may not know about.  It is essential for him to use   professional piercing techniques so that you will avoid infection.

>

Do NOT go swimming  with pierced body parts  during the healing period  as this can cause protozoan and parasitic invasion. Body piercing additionally offers you a  risk of getting scars and  keloid scars.

Another risk is swelling.   Piercing can  block the skin and can cause  harm to  nerves.  You must be sure your body jewelery does not cut off blood circulation.

Large pieces of jewlery have been known to get caught on external objects, getting entangled and that can be a nightmare scenario. Small body piercings are best, and not great, dangling earrings or nose rings.

If your piercer-person is not careful and not a professional,  diseases like, Hepatitis B and C and HIV, can be transmitted  with the use of dirty needles.

A tongue piercing can cause a chipped tooth because the jewelry can  wear down the tooth enamel.

Piercing in the genital parts can obstruct their normal functions. They can make urination and yes sexual intercourse harder to execute. Of course there are benefits to the genital piercings as well.

Self piercing is a no-no and dangerous.  Don't do it.

Having alerted yourself to these basic risks, you should not necessarily be scared away from body piercing, because, given proper precautions, the procedure can be fun and give you an added lift to your life in ways you might never suspect.  It's your decision in the end, and you know, it can always be reversed if you don't like it.

Ramblings on Body Piercing

 Body piercing are
perceived by many as
body decoration,

to this view, our

by those who are

I don't have body piercings or tattoos, but I will confess that at age 51, I don't feel as strongly opposed to either as I once did. I don't think we NEED these things at any age, but we mellow as we get older and things that once bothered us don't seem so bad any more.
