One thing is for certain, you need to get your site into Google and you need it to do well in Google. That's an obvious fact and if you don't believe that, I'm not sure why you would be trying to do anything online at all. Google is perhaps the biggest source of online revenue on planet earth.

So the question we're asking ourselves isn't whether we want our sites to be in Google, it's a matter of how we get them into Google in the first place.

In order to answer this question, we need to do some testing. Fortunately, I've done all of that and will tell you exactly what happened. All you need to do is listen to what I have to say and then get it done.

What Happens When You Submit To Google

I wanted to find out exactly what happened when I submitted my sites to Google so I submitted some sites. It took about six weeks for Google to include my sites in their index and they didn't rank for anything. Why didn't they rank for anything? Because Google didn't believe that they were good sites. This probably isn't because they were submitted, it was because the sites didn't have any links pointing at them. Google never would have found the sites if I hadn't done the submission so in that aspect it was better than nothing. However, there was no traffic so in that sense it was worthless.

In order to get Google to like these sites I'm going to have to get some other sites to link to them. Google knows and understands that the best sites will get linked to the most and so sites without links are rarely going to get Google traffic, unless they target keywords that have no competition at all.

How To Get Into Google Without Submitting To Google

I then wanted to see if I could get into Google more quickly without submitting. I tested Court's advice when he said to not submit website to Google. Basically the idea is that Google's system follows links around the internet all day long and to get them to find your site, all you have to do is make sure that they follow a link to it. Court says that they prefer to find sites this way and will index them more quickly if it's because of links. I tested this theory out and sure enough, I got my site indexed within 2 days - much better than the six weeks that it took my other sites to index.

I then took some time to add some more links that pointed at my little site and did so because I have always been able to establish sites well this way. You get direct traffic from the links and you can also get a search benefit from Google because of the links. Each additional site that links to yours makes your site look better and better to Google.

When you first get into Google you won't be getting any traffic - at least for a while. You need to be patient and keep adding links and if you do that, you'll do great. Traffic will start to build and that will be very worthwhile.
