Should contact sports like boxing and rugby should be abolished? Yes or No?
No, contact sports like boxing and rugby should not be abolished. Why should they be banned? The participants know what they are doing and they are doing it at their own risks and they are both pretty entertaining sports.
If you are talking about the injuries involved, it is in all physical games. There is a risk of injury in both games, and both games involve physical contact with other players as part of the game. Even cricket can be termed dangerous, since a single blow from the ball at a very high speed can give you a concussion. In fact, if we were to go about eliminating the "risk" because of fear of injury, the only game possible would be chess.
Risk is the part of a game and it occurs not only in contact sports but in many sports. Besides, everything we do in life has an element of risk involved. Every sport has an element of risk. It is not the fault of the sportsmen that people emulate them, despite repeated warnings. It is not their fault that a bunch of parents cannot stop their kids from watching violent stuff on TV. Banning is no solution. These sports have been going on for a long time, and there is nothing to indicate that kids watching football/rugby will be more violent than others.
If you are talking about violence involved, kids watching boxing is the parent's fault, they ought to use the parental lock on the TV, if they cannot, hey sorry, there was a warning, there were messages, if you cannot do the rest, its not the fault of anyone but the parents.
Why not we also abolish or ban cartoons, which show as much violence (especially the Japanese ones) as any sport? Banning is a slippery slope, and it will only lead to more banning until the only thing to watch on TV will be daily soaps.
And no one is forcing a boxer into the ring. A kid with proper parents and teachers will not go around beating everyone up simply because he/she saw it in a ring.
Contact sports are not meant to be viewed/played by kids below a certain age. They are meant for more mature audiences.
So least but not last, I would say boxing and rugby or any other contact sports should not be abolished.
