I do not think that gun possesion should be restricted to the police, military and security guards, because that would remove one of the check and balances from our system of government. A great many people have forgotten that the right to keep and bear arms was written into the constitution for that purpose. If all weapons were banned from private, lawful ownership then we would have in this country a large imbalance of power.

Guns would still find their way into the hands of those people who would misuse them. I think that it would make violent crime a lot more prevelent then it is today. I have a right to protect my family, home, and property from someone who has the intention of harming them. I don't believe that a person should take the law into their own hands, but if there is no other choice, then a person should have the means to protect themselves and their families.
