Shouts and Touts 1
54I'd like to take the time to give some kudos to the companies/individuals that deserve it. Also I'd like to point out the companies that deserve to be exposed for their lack of integrity.
My first kudo would be for the President in his handling of the situation with the captured captain of the Maersk Alabama. Few people would have the fortitude to order a kill strike when the captors have a hostage. I was very impressed with his handling of the situation. This is a time when to rancor of political debate can be put aside and focus can be put on the good aspects of his behavior. Well done, Mr. President.
My second kudo would be for Ford Motor Co. Their CEO, Alan Mullaly, has handled his company with excellent bearing. With the downward slide of their major US competitors, GM and Chrysler, Ford has managed to weather the storm to this point without asking for Government help. That is hugely important. They have been able to maintain their financial independence. Excellent Job, Mr. Mullaly.

My last kudo is for Sprint-Nextel. Dan Hesse, their CEO, has executed a huge financial turn-around by vastly improving the customer service. The majority of compaints before his coming to Sprint were for the terrible customer service which was driving people away in droves. Today, with Mr. Hesse at the helm, customers are returning to Sprints nationwide service, customer service, and excellent variety of phones and plans. Well done, Mr. Hesse.

The first company I would like to point out as having breached the wall of integrity is Wachovia. This is a banking institution which was recently bought-out by Wells Fargo. Long before Wells Fargo bought them out, however, Wachovia was involved in a number of groups that have no business being involved with banking customers money. Various homosexual-rights organizations were being given financial support by Wachovia. I don't know about other people but I have no desire whatsoever to have my money, sitting in Wachovia's banks, being given to those groups simply because Wachovia's board likes them. For shame, Wachovia.

My second and last "point-out" is the Congress. When will they ever perform acts and pass resolutions that are actually based on the Constitution. From their taking ownership of private companies to their spending of trillions of taxpayer dollars the Congress has habitually taken steps to remove themselves further and further from the Constitutional base of our Founders. I'm only afraid the people will wake up too late. One day we will wake up to find our government bankrupt, our debts called in, and nations demanding payment and on our doorsteps. For shame, Congress.

Great hub. As to your last point, I'm just waiting for China to say they want to be paid for all these IOU's we're giving them. One day they'll knock on our door and request that we give them New York.
Rather than China Town, they'll be China City.

Another great hub. I do not watch news and do not have the time to dig for it on the internet, (any news that is presented to us is suspect and needs to be filtered), so this hostage situation is news to me. I am glad there is another right leaning person willing to point out the good things Obama does as well. You call a spade a spade. Thank you for the info on Sprint as well, I love their coverage and excellent technical service, but their customer service was pretty much awful. I am looking forward to returning to them as a customer, so maybe with the new leadership, they'll treat me a little better. Can't wait for another great hub from you.
