Signs of when it's time to quit your job
63
For some of us it is very cut and dried, that we need to leave our current position. But, at other times it is akin to ending a marriage. We go through periods of anger and blame combined with acceptance and stubbornness. It is a blessing to find yourself in a place where you relish going to work each day. When you job is just the end to a means, it is time to revisit and evaluate your dreams from childhood and early adulthood.
A few telltale signs that you may want to investigate a postilion change.
- You find your self more often feeling contempt for either you company, management or your co-workers.
- You dread everyday and have difficulty motivating your self for the tasks that need to be done, let alone initiating new ones.
- You spend more time trashing your company or polices with others then talking about projects in the works or your own personal achievements.
- You no longer feel challenged or fulfilled.
- You feel under utilized or not valued by your current management or company.
These are just a few feelings or experiences you may be having. A few suggestions for change are;
- If you have a confident relationship with your superiors, share you need for the change and desire to learn or advance. Many companies will work with a valued employee by either transferring to a new department or position.
- A lot of large corporations, universities and business management organizations offer career management series. They generally are free and can often spark possibilities of change within your self.
- Give yourself time. The longer you have been "married" to a company the more painful the breakup.
- Network with friends and family, they may know of a possibility you do not see.
- Take a class, read a book, volunteer or go to a seminar. This will help you step out of your current career thinking and will give you the space to consider other options. It will also assist with expanding your potential network.
