The signs of skin cancer that are most common are easily detectable. Where many folks have a problem, or a challenge, is doing something about the condition once they find out they may have it.

Many times the symptoms of skin cancer are ignored or simply swept under the rug. That's one very bad attitude to have since e ignoring the signs and symptoms won’t make it go away.  So what are some of the early signs of cancer that you need to be on the lookout for?

Five Signs of Skin Cancer

  • A sore or a spot on your skin that will not go away after a month and won’t heal.
  • If there is an area of your skin that is crusty, itchy, it hurts and/or bleeds for more than several weeks.
  • A broken down area of the skin that won’t heal after a month.
  • Pink or shiny lumps on you face or scabs. If your ears, shoulders, hands, or back experience lumps that is also a sign.
  • Lumps that easily bleed are another sign of skin cancer.

If you see any of these signs it is imperative that you seek a medical opinion right away.  A medical professional can better tell you exactly what type of skin cancer you may have, and how best to take care of it.

Additional signs of skin cancer

In addition to the signs of skin cancer listed above there are other sign you should take note of.

  • If you are over 30 and start getting new moles you may want to take notice and have them looked at. New moles usually do not develop in folks after they turn 30.
  • Moles that start to get bigger are also a symptom of skin cancer and you want that looked at.
  • If your moles start to change color or if they start to bleed.
  • Moles that grow sores are another sign of skin cancer that needs attention.

Visit a doctor is you see signs of skin cancer

These cancer signs can only be evaluated by a health care professional. If you happen to find any of these symptoms go to your doctor immediately and have them look at your skin condition. The earlier you get treatment the better. Do practice some prevention by wearing high SPF sunscreen, proper clothing, eating healthy, and simply being aware of the conditions that can cause skin cancer.
