Silk Smitha was born into a poor family in Eluru (in Andhra Pradesh) on 23 November 1962, she just get a little forml education upto 5th standard, ambitious to become a film star in South Indian Cinema.  Her real name was Vijayalakshimi but when she entered into film idustry a famous director of south movies renamed her to Smitha. Smitha did about 40 movies in her life. All are in Tamil language.
