SimCity 4 info, tips, cheats, ect.
I have been playing SimCity 4 for a long time and I have found a few tips and tricks to aid you in building your town to 100,000 Sims. This is the step to step procedure:
- Select a medium sized layout with a little bit of water a mainly flat land. Now
when you first get to the name of the city and how hard screen select hard and name your city. Hard makes the game easier in the case that the city population is more balanced.
- Ok in the center of the map zone a fairly large area of Residential. Then add a either an avenue around or a simple street. Then add a few avenues in the residential zone.
- Place a large industrial center close to the water but leave some space for the business for the water were later you will add marinas.
- Build a small business area. Now attach the areas together with avenues.
- Build a power plant and a garbage dump that is 4 * 2.
- Connect the power to all the grids.
- wait and watch as the city builds
- once you have enough money build a sea port near the industrial center or a rail system so that there are fewer trucks on the roads on the roads.
- Now wait until you have enough inflow of cash and you get the large elementary school if you have the deluxe edition, if you don't build 2 small elementary schools in the residential area. Check to make sure you aren't wasting money by adjusting the funding to the school.
- Now wait for about 3 years
- now build and upgrade roads and industrial areas, if needed add more commercial area too.
- now space pipes about 7 to 9 apart from each other and zone the whole city for water even unused areas
- now go to the residential and rezone it in medium sized homes
- now build a water pumps until demand is met
- If you need to build or increase power, garbage, water, sea ports, rail ways, ect. Do so now
- Once the residential is mainly small apartments add a few monuments like the Hollywood sign or something else near or in the business area. Redo all streets to roads. If you want now would be the time to add more avenues and so forth, later you will find problems
- now select the central area of your residential and zone for large after you have put in a High School and a college, if needed add more industrial zones and commercial zones
- Now wait for the large towers to appear
- this is your time to put in reward that you have gotten like: the mayor house, city hall, parks, ect.
- Keep watch on the industrial areas, build a few fire department, make sure that they are large fire departments
- look at your budget and make sure you are still making money
- click on the cheetah speed button and go in to the 20's.
- once you have gotten to the 20's add have a good budget build a few police stations
- rezone the rest of the residential to high and rezone or build new zones for industrial and commercial as needed for the next few years, old zones should be zoned for high and new zones should be zoned for low, add more seaports or railways as needed
- now rezone all commercial to high when you have enough money
- select your speed setting as desired
- watch it go up to 100,000 population
- build anything else you like but keep the budget in mind
- add the university and other education and hospitals when you have the money
- once you want more high tec. industry go to the tax menu and change it to 3 %
- now you should have a city of 100,000
- good job!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheats: To get into the cheat menu press Ctrl + X

- 2. You Don't Deserve It
These too cheats will aid you if needed

2 Gives you All Rewards
Tips:
- don't build hospitals until you have a large population other wise it is a waste of money
- Build large police stations and fire stations because they do save money in the end
- build parks to lower the co2 emitions
- build a water treatment plant to decrease water pollution
- build power plants that suit your current needs like coal when you don't have a lot of money and others when you have the money
- the far best power plant I have found out are the natural gas plants and wind mills

i usually try to add stuff like parks, schools, and other things that boost the rating of the area.
I've done that - and added trees like crazy - still have trouble with the traffic noise, especially if it's a busy street. I even bought the book but it mentions nothing about how to solve this problem.
You should use the cheat to get rid of power requirement and water requirement, it reduces a lot of pollution and if you want even more high tech you should build more schools, libraries, museums, etc because educated sims want high tech jobs
You shouldn't use cheats unless you can do it and still feel like a winner.
Still, about the only thing you can do about your traffic/noise issue is reorganize your zones. Currently, I start in a corner of a city with avenues connecting to both neighbors spaced 5 blocks from the edge/corner. From the corner of these avenues, I layout a grid of one-way roads in my residential zones, with 8 blocks, then a one-way, then 3 blocks, then the opposite one-way, then another 8 blocks, and so on until an avenue for the commercial zones. In the 8 block areas I zone residential, and in the 3 block wide areas I provide transportation, schools, fire, police, schools, hospitals, parks, churches, libraries, museums, and even a few commercial zones to reduce commute times. In industrial areas, you can zone commercial in the 3-block areas, or just plant trees in half of them to help keep air pollution in check, and your development high-tech.
The result has been very high density development with very low traffic and commute times between 20 and 30 minutes. Mayor rating is over 90%. Land value is high everywhere that's zoned, population about 90,000 and growing, with less than half the large city's area used, the rest is covered with trees.
well a couple days ago i got sim city 4 and it sucks balls that you cant get like a 100,000 dollear cheat cause its hard to get money
there is a kind of park witch give you much money each month. you should download it. it makes the game a lot easier
I love this game, even though it crashes to the desktop a lot. My main problem is roads. My sims complain about the street so I upgrade to a road, then they complain about the roads. The avenues suck, the game never lets me place them where i want. Are one way streets any good? I find myself adding a second parallel road when traffic is bad. I love seeing high wealth homes being built ;) it's such a rewarding feeling.
I've found organizing your city in a grid system which utilizes a rudimentary traffic flow helps. I.E. Laying Avenues around the outside of the city and in a giant plus sign through the city. Around the plus is a grid of Commercial zones, inside the blocks created by the Avenue is residential zones. In commercial areas place heavy rewards I.E. Colleges etc. when money allows. (making enough to support) Place hospitals, schools, and police in the residential zones. (everyone wants to sleep where it's safe, but the police should cover Commercial zones too) Outside the giant box created by the avenues(roads can initially be placed until funds allow) place industrial/agricultural zones and update the density as the game continues. Eventually you'll need more jobs, place commercial zones over what was industrial starting at connecting roads/avenues and expand as needed. This should get you a good city. Remember: Once city will not grow large until all cities around it are filled and demand is modified by what is connected.
OMG cheats? whats that? either you guys suck or im just a badass. yes, i do search for sim city tips to place certain things on my map. learn to play without cheats. you'll enjoy the game
If your city has heavy traffic you should put subway and allow all city ordinance
The Problem with doing that is there are only a few ordinances that you need to do for lowering traffic the rest will just be a waste of money

Hey, great Hub! SimCity 4 can be so addicting. I never had success with the railroads at all. What do you do when residential areas downgrade due to high traffic noise?
