Simmons Pet Food for Dogs Recall Information

Simmons Pet Food has issued a recall for fifteen varieties of its canned dog food product line due to the linings separating from the inside of the cans.

The Arkansas-based company initiated a voluntary withdrawal from distribution this past Monday (June 12th) after finding random flaking of the inside coating of the cans, with all affected products required to be removed from retail store shelves.

The products affected by the Simmons dog food recall include all 22-ounce canned pet food with "use by" dates between March 16, 2008, and June 6, 2008. The dog foods are distributed through major retail store chains, including Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Allied Foods. The Simmons canned dog food varieties under recall are:

  • Ol' Roy Beef Flavor
  • Ol' Roy Chicken Flavor
  • Ol' Roy Hearty Loaf with Chopped Beef
  • Ol' Roy Hearty Loaf Chopped Meaty Combo
  • American Fare Dinner with Turkey and Bacon
  • American Fare Chunky Dinner with Beef and Bacon
  • American Fare Chunky Dinner with Beef
  • American Fare Country Stew with Beef
  • Fit and Active Hearty Loaf with Beef
  • Fit and Active Hearty Loaf with Chicken,
  • Twin Pet with Beef Dog and Puppy Food
  • Twin Pet with Beef - Liver Flavor Dog and Puppy Food
  • Canine Cuisine Dog Food Prime Entrйe Cuts with Beef
  • Pot Luck Canned Pet Food
  • Strongheart Beef Flavor Dog Food

Consumers who own one or more of the above dog foods may return them to the retail store for a refund, and all customer concerns and questions should be directed to Simmons Pet Food at 800-232-9880.
