You don't have to spend a lot of money to have beautiful skin.  You can spend time caring for your skin at home with these simple, inexpensive facial masks.

Face masks (or masques) are a great way to pamper yourself and your skin.  They can be customized to your skin type, and are also relaxing and indulgent.  With homemade face masks once a week, you can have a spa in your living room!

Face Mask Ingredients

There are a number of different ingredients you can include depending on your skin type and objectives.

For a moisturizing face mask you might want to include honey, avocado, banana, aloe vera, apricot etc. These ingredients are soothing and moisturizing to the skin.

For a deep-cleaning face mask you might want to include yogurt, kaolin clay, apple, oatmeal, cucumber. These ingredients contain either acids (which exfoliate the skin) or drawing ingredients to absorb impurities. Fresh fruits in particular contain natural acids which are great for purifying and refining the skin.

Some Face Masks to Make

Oily Skin - crush a tomato or strawberries or an apple and apply to your cleansed face. Leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

Dry Skin - Apply honey or crushed avocado or banana to your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and follow with moisturizer.

The Beauty Bible also has a great page on at-home facials and masques.
