Good Coaches always want to learn....
Good Coaches of Fastpitch Softball or coaches of any sport for that matter know there is always more to learn about the game in which they are involved. The best coaches seek new information and techniques on a regular basis. But if you're just beginning your softball coaching career and don't want to invest a lot of money on books, coaches clinics, seminars, etc..There are a number of free resources with excellent information available for you to learn from. Here are just a few ideas.
Search the web...
Do Internet searches for the sport you're coaching, you'll be able to find a number of websites out there with free tips for you to review. For example if you are a softball coach you can search for softball, fastpitch softball, softball coaching tips, etc. I'm sure you can think of more, but those are just a few ideas of what you could enter into a search engine to find free information about your sport. The real benefit of searching the web is that you can do it at home.
The Public Library....
Your local library is a great resource! You will probably be able to find at least a handful of good Softball coaching books there. Just get the books back on time, and you can read each and every book they have to offer for free. Of course, if you come across one that really peaks your interest, go out and buy it! Building your own coaching library is always a smart investment.
Free Articles...
Again by simply surfing the web for free articles and free newsletters you'll find sites where you can have free content sent to you via e-mail on a regular basis. Typically all you need to supply is a first name and e-mail address and you're set to get free tips delivered right to your email. The best part about this is that you can keep what you like and discard what you don't.
Get active in forums.....
Another great place to learn is online forums. A forum is a wonderful place to ask your coaching questions and have them answered by a variety of people. They are also great for browsing just to see what other members are talking about or see what type questions other coaches, players or parents may have have about your particular game of interest. Normally you'll have to register at a forum before you can ask or answer questions there.
Networking....
Step out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to as many coaches in your particular sport as possible. You'll be surprised at what you can learn by simply introducing yourself and talking with others in your sport. Everyone has something to offer, it maybe something you're teaching now just with a different twist, keep your mind open and use the information that fits your coaching style.
In Conclusion....
As you can see just from these few examples that there are many ways of increasing your coaching knowledge, the best coaches are always learning, what can you do today that will make you better tomorrow?
I hope you found this information helpful..
Until next time remember that softball is for everyone.... Fastpitch Softball is for athletes....

Thanks for the comment M.
As coaches I think you'll agree that we should never stop learning and continue to be students of the game we teach. I appreciate your positive words, thanks.

Hey Gates,
Great hub for coaches. I think coaches will be able to take a lot out of this post and become much more knowledgable as far as coaching is concerned.
