Looking for an easy way to lose a few pounds? Who isn't. In the game of weight loss almost everyone is praying for a simple quick fix. While if you have a large amount of weight to lose this likely isn't going to be possible and you will need to go on a more structured weight loss plan, for those who only want to lose three to five pounds, this can easily be accomplished in a month or two by making small adjustments to your current lifestyle. Below are some painless tricks to try out. The more you incorporate into your routine the faster you will see the weight coming off.

Sub In A Fat Free Product

Take one product that you normally eat that is higher fat and substitute in a lower fat or fat free version. This could be mayonnaise, sour cream, any type of dairy product, a cut of meat or baked chips instead of the regular. Most of these products taste remarkably similar to their higher fat counterparts and you likely will not even notice the difference.

Drink One Glass Of Water Before Every Meal

Not getting enough water during the day not only increases the appetite, makes you feel sluggish and affects concentration levels, but it will also cause you to eat more during your meals. To prevent this from happening, simply drink one full glass of water about ten minutes before sitting down. Not only will you be doing your overall health a huge favour but you might just find your weight thanks you as well.

Sprinkle On The Spices

Test groups have demonstrated that when people put spices on their foods, particularly hot ones, they have a tendency to consume less. This is likely due to the fact that the spices help to increase the flavour content of the foods and this in return helps you feel more satisfied while consuming less. As an added benefit, spices are virtually calorie free so you can use as little or as much of them as you want and you will not be adding any additional calories.

Perform One Chore Or Task Before Eating

As a way to help combat boredom eating, right before you go to have a snack, try and perform one chore or task that needs to get done first. Often, by the time you have finished you may have gotten sidetracked enough you no longer have the desire to eat, or, at the very least you have burned off some calories. Most snacks are due to the need for instant gratification rather than true hunger so if you can delay this gratification slightly, it may just pass permanently.

Keep Less Options In The House

Probably the single most effective way to lose weight is to simply keep less product options in the house. Instead of stalking up on three flavours of chips, two flavours of puddings and four different kinds of cereals, buy one. You will be less likely to want to consume so much of these foods when there is only a single choice to choose from. Additionally, the less options you have the more you can be sure you are only eating out of pure physical hunger. The one exception to this rule however comes with fruits and vegetables. These are two things where variety is key since they are so nutrient dense. They are also very low in calories anyway so you shouldn't worry about over consumption of these foods (vegetables to a larger extent then fruits).

So try out one or more of those simple tricks this month. After a few days of doing so you will likely find that it has now almost become routine and you don't even miss your old ways. If you can make this a permanent change that is even better as then you will prevent the weight from coming back on in the first place.

Yes, I drink water before eating and to calm midnigh munchies, I use a tablespoon of Citrucel in glass of juice.
