Sing A New Song
49SING
Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Psalm 96:1 (NIV)
The ability to sing is one gift everyone should have. Unfortunately, too many of us are gifted with “making a joyful noise”. Imagine if everyone could sing and no one was afraid to sing for fear of embarrassment? The whole Earth would be full of joy!
Mondays are good days for singing – it beats crying!
This Monday my head is stopped up, my ears hurt, my nose is running and a visit to the doctor is coming. The sinus infection is growing as fast as the fire ant hills. Perhaps you are suffering as you read this. It could be your ailment is something else but you are suffering nonetheless. Singing is not on your mind, unless the song is “Gloom, despair and misery on me”.
God doesn’t designate days to sing and days not to sing. The urge to sing is due to the salvation – the Grace He has given to you. A stopped up head is a minor irritant that will soon pass. It should not be something to stop you from wanting to praise God. Take a moment and listen to a familiar song or hymn. You don’t need to turn on the radio or go to the Internet, there’s a song playing in your head and heart from yesterday’s worship. “Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus, thou has bought us and THINE we are.”
Maybe your church sang something different, if so think for a moment, listen for the melody, hear the voices. If you were unable to attend, I’m sure you have a favorite – listen.
Sing to the Lord a new song --- praise Him.
