Their videos are so bad that you can not watch them with your children. Why they all copy porn stars dresses. They have all the dress like they are doing B grade movies.

While singing doesn't have anything to do with flaunting your body, most on this list do one or the other.
Beyonce can definitely sing, and she seems to stay out of the bad spotlight.
Christina can also sing at times.
I've heard one actual song from Fergie, and she could sing if she wanted to.
Rihanna is still fairly new, but she can sing.
I'm not familiar with Kylie.
Avril may be up in the air.
Hilary is young, she can sing, but is also a role model to even younger kids. She needs to stay out of the bad spotlight.
All of these people are being watched all of the time. They need to be careful to make good choices and be respectable role models.

I shudder at the thought of a scantily-dressed Aretha Franklin, but I'd empty my bank account for one of her concerts before I'd pay a dime for most of the ones on your list.
Our crazed, non-judgmental, sex-addled, egalitarian society is no longer willing to make the distinctions between good and bad, right and wrong. How else do you explain a Grammy for L'il Wayne (or a rap category generally - it's like having an award for Best Sewage)? Unfortunately, that also explains the declining educational scores and climbing social pathologies (crime, poverty, bastardy) of many of our communities. Such people are unfit to live in a system of ordered liberty and will increasingly demand that government take care of them. And maybe that's the real end game.

Yes, we are not sellling talent at all - just sex. Sad that America still sexually exploits women and then - blames the women! Beyonce is talented however and Paris Hilton (who does porn videos and embraces this 'airhead' persona) is not in her league at all.
I find it hard to condemn women and I refuse to call them names that are created for their behavior when men are not labeled at all for panting after these same women who are so quickly condemned. It's like continuing to arrest the prostitutes but never the johns.

Lgali, I think that most (not all) of these women are underdressed to make up for what they lack vocally and of course sex sells. You could never put these girls in a true vocal arena because they lack vocal talents. Sure they have great studio back up but put them up on a stage their true talents or lack there of will show through! Thanks for the hub!

While one or two of them might be able to hold a note, they're more into selling their image as a sex object; singing is second on the list. Money follows interest and sex invites interest. After all, they're not in it only for the notoriety, they're also in it for the money.
These days there are more singers than audience so there is a tough competition in the music Industry. Therefore, to attract more audience singers are showing thier hot body and not thier talent (singing). Their marketing strategy is lesser clothes more audience.

Lgali, I think we have a kindred spirit. As I watch these singers on screen, it just beats my imagination why it is the ladies that perform almost nude.Why not the men? Even when a guy has the music, he employs the ladies to expose their bodies for him. it's just very emotionally disturbing.
I have come to believe that the basic motive is sex appeal and not the message of the lyrics.
I also notice that most developing nations where these issues were moderated rapidly copy these type of immoral fleshly display.

Right or wrong - sex sells. End of story. I agree with your point of view, it's sad that these girls need to (nearly and some fully) bare all just to get us to pay attention, but that is the society that we live in. I'll admit I do it too. How many of us clicked on the 'see all 35 photos' link? I sure did. And don't even try to tell me you all did it to better understand the article, maybe some of you, but the majority was just curious, or wanted to see some 'hot women'.
That being said, I really believe that the female body is a beautiful thing and should be shown off - tastefully!
And in all fairness, some of those photos were just girls out at the beach in a bikini. It's not their fault they get photographed everywhere they go.
That is the reason why I always talk about the music of the sixties, seventies and early eighties in my hubs!

Have to agree with one of the earlier comments, sex does sell and it is not just in the musical entertainment arena, there are loads of other examples where sex appeal is used to promote, advertising, films, TV magazines, the list goes on.
Trouble is we are becoming more and more tolerant as the initial shock subsides. I have said to my wife on more than one occasion that I cannot believe what I have just seen on TV, remembering that I was around when TV first came into being and have seen massive changes over the years and I am talking routine terrestial TV here not special channels.

I see your point Legali. You're so right about that. Where's their morals already? They all look like a bunch of "Girls Gone Wild!" And although it's wrong, they know that sex sells and this is living proof of it.
There must be some truth to this concept or they wouldn't be doing this. But, whatever happened to them getting famous from their singing. Oh I get it. Maybe this is their backup if all else fails! Thanks for posting.

It's terrribe that because of these pop stars that you named girls in there teens feel that is what a women is supposed to look like, and thats why we there are so many young girls that have depression, they make their self puke, or won't eat for days.
I think these days talent is rare.There is talent out there and the real one's get put to the back.I think looks have nothing to do with talent.I know,I used to be in the metal scene in Tampa Bay.
The target market for music sellers is the 14 year old post-pubescent teen. They are just beginning to develop ideas of independence from parents, especially their father or other authority figures. So, we see an endless stream of images and sounds coming from people who want to sell to them that evokes this self-realization and parental role rejection. Whatever is offensive to adults is ipso facto acceptable to these new teens, and will energize and populate their hormone-charged new world.
It's been true forever, and will always be. Socrates decried the irreverent behavior of the youth of Athens, thousands of years ago. We're still making the same observations today.
Don't worry, the children and post-pubescents of today will be the strict parents of tomorrow.

Well the majority of ladies on your HUB are skanks except GWEN STEFANI and I am sure Patty her mother would not like that! =) The family is very sweet. Gwen is so far from a skank. As mentioned above numerous times, it's really more of just the sex thing. Sure they're singers, but since just about everyone listed can't actually sing, they need something else to keep people interested. I'm not saying they have no talent at all, b/c they wouldn't be where they are now if they didn't, but in some cases they need the extra help. Although, I find this whole skank thing disgusting, that's all the music, entertainment business really is anyway. It's everywhere you look, not just in music, but in the movies as well. The people of this world are becoming more immuned to sex, drugs, drinking, things that aren't fit for children, that it's just becoming a way of life. So instead, like back in the 70's when you seen a hooker on the street, you would cover your child's eyes and look the other way... now it wouldn't matter. You're so use to seeing it everywhere you look that it doesn't bother you anymore. Well, for some people, like in my case, I find it very disgusting, but for a majority of this world, it's just a way of life. Even the children today know about all this stuff, before you even sit down with them and discuss it. That right there is very disturbing. But there isn't anything you can do about it, besides raise your own children the best way you can. This world is full of this unGodly stuff, and I'm afraid that it's only going to get worse with time.

Dancers are very sexual in general and natural exhibitionists...comes with the territory. Some of these singers have been reckless in the past (who cares about their vagina monologues) but I haven't heard of anything lately from the hollywood side of the pond which is a good sign.
