There was a man behind the desk and he looked weary and rumpled. What was left of his hair was tousled like he had just woken up, and his clothes looked like he had been in them for several days. The other person in the room was a fiery Hispanic woman that had a suit coat of a charcoal color and a skirt to match. She was not wearing hose Eddie noticed taking in her shapely legs. He could not tell much more about her as she was very animated and talking as much with her hands as her mouth. She paused as Richard entered they entered the room. Richard made short introductions and she turned to Eddie and said in accented English “who are you and what are you doing here? He opened his mouth to respond and the woman cut him off with a look and turned back to the man behind the desk. The man behind the desk ignored her rants and came around the desk to greet Eddie. He took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from his balding head and He said “damn it’s been too long”. "Wait a minute," Richard said, "You guys know each other"? Eddie broke out into a wide grin and said "yep you could say that". “It has been too long, how are you”? Eddie asked.  They exchanged some small talk and a handshake then Bart introduced him to the woman in the room, as she had started tapping her foot and clearing her throat.  “Eddie this is Adriana Alvarez”.  Bart said.  “She is the leader of the local anti-terrorist task force”.  Bart made a grand gesture of apologizing to Adriana and explaining that the two were old friends and Richard interrupted by clearing his throat similar to what Adriana had just done.  Richard continued and said “we really need to get back on topic.”  He went to the corner and grabbed a couple of chairs for Eddie and himself.  When they were all seated he began to talk.  “A couple of years ago there used to be several cartels in operation around these parts”.  “Right now there is one cartel in operation here.”  

Bart picked up where Richard left off by handing Adriana and Eddie a couple of folders. “In those folders is a satellite recon photo of the area.” “I am familiar with the area” Adriana snapped. Bart recoiled and sat back down. “What is so important about these photographs?” Eddie asked. “More importantly what am I doing here?” Richard and Bart exchanged a look and Bart shrugged his shoulders “you might as well tell him Richard, he is going to find out eventually.” Richard looked at Eddie and asked him “What do you know about the man that hired you”? It was Eddie’s turn to shrug as he said not much. He gave me a photograph and a plane ticket.” “Said his name was Doug McTavish” Eddie said. Never met the man before he called and we had breakfast. What does he have to do with any of this cartel business?” Richard looked at him and said one word, “plenty”.  “We have reason to believe that he is the accountant for the cartel in the states.  About two years ago his wife was killed.  It was ruled a suicide, but now with kidnapping of the daughter we aren’t so sure.”  Eddie looked at Bart and Richard “how do you know about the kidnapping?” Eddie asked.  “We’re with the agency kid, we know everything” Bart said.  “Well that explains the warm welcome that I got out at the plane” Eddie said.  “Yeah, sorry about that” Richard said.  “We had to make sure that you weren’t followed here.  I hope Chester didn’t startle you.”  Eddie laughed “Are you serious? That guy couldn’t scare his own shadow!” 

Adriana had been silent throughout the exchange and now seized the moment. “Who is this man?” she asked. “We have been through that already” Bart said. “I know his name, I want to know what he is doing here besides wasting my time with his bravado” she said. “What is he going to do for us?” Bart looked over at Richard “I guess its my turn to fill in the puzzle” he said. “Eddie was contracted by the accountant McTavish, and now he has figured out that the girl is in this area.”  “She is probably dead” Adriana snapped.  “If you look at the photos, you will see that she is in two of them taken this morning.”  Bart said.  Adriana flipped through the photos and saw the ones that he was talking about and looked up.  “Do you want me to go in there and get her out?”  Richard cut off her next outburst with a wave of his hand, “We want the both of you to go in there and get her out.”
