Sinus headaches, Sinus congestion, most of my life I have suffered from the damn plague that is called sinus problems, personally I blame my big nose but hey who knows or who nose if you get the pun. Ok don't laugh you are no fun but anyways hands up if you have ever suffered from bad sinus headaches or sinus congestion, real pain in the ass isn,t it.

I tend to get my sinus problems mostly around the start of winter but I also suffer from it during the summer when the pollen is high or the guy next door decides to cut his grass, jeez why not just let it grow like mine, I love the jungle look. Only in my grass ladies ok, only in my grass !!!

Natural Treatments For A Sinus Headache

Oh I do love things in my life to be oh natural so how can we relieve this nasty sinus headache. You see sinus headaches differ from your normal headache, you get it just behind the eyeballs because that is where your sinus cavities are. Sometimes you also get some heaviness or facial swelling, doncha just hate that facial swelling, I usually get puffy eyes.

One way of reducing the sinus congestion is using saline drops and this is something I would use, mainly at night I would put a few drops on my pillow. The drops clear your sinuses by draining the nasal passage.

Sometimes the air in your home can give you a sinus headache so try out a humidifier to moisten the air. Nothing like a bit of moistness, doncha agree. But the good thing is the moist air not only treats your sinus headaches but also prevents any further ones occuring, handy tip or what?

One thing I bought during the summer for a really cheap price was an inhaler. It's a weird plastic device that you fill with hot water and it has a long tube with a mouthpiece attached to it and if you are female do remember the plastic bit is the mouthpiece, not you. You can actually get the same effect by just filling a bowl with steaming water, lean over it and put a towel over your head. If you are an ugly bugger keeping the towel over your head afterwards will even enhance your lovelife.

I actually have found that adding eucalyptus oil to the water makes for a better effect, you just can't beat eucalyptus for clearing those nasal passages. Eucalyptus acts as an antibacterial agent and expectorant to treat your sinus headache and trust me it works a treat.

Hands up if you want to take it a step forward and loosen all that stinky congestion, ok all you buggers with your hands up and heads over the bowl with your eucalyptus and towel slowly inhale the steam nice and deep, you feeling yourself getting those sinuses cleared, bet you are.

Tea tree oil has the same effect, just add 3 to 5 drops of the stuff into the water then breath in the steam 4 times a day until the sypmtons are cured. Tea tree oil is one hell of a great little oil and methinks I must do a hub on just it one of these lonely dark nights.

Health Warning.

Well a health hub wouldn't be proper if it didn't have a warning and people do heed warnings, you know like the big Smoking Kills stamped on a ciggy pack. Anyways if your sinus headache continues or you get a fever, stiff neck, nausea or vomitting consult your Doctor but jeeeez there is nothing worse than a sinus headache, I should know I have had one for about a week but the above tips do help, take care.

My girlfriend in college once complained about a pain just as you mentioned, behind her eyeballs and was crawling up the walls about it. At the time (we were very comfortable around each other) I believed her to be just overreacting and so gave her Theraflu and Contact, threw her in bed (no hokey-pokey that night, mind you) and slept on the couch.

The next morning she actually go worst! Her mom called me and DEMANDED that I take her PUMPKIN to the ER IMMEDIATELY. Well, mother knows best right? I did just that, lickety-split and discovered that she had a sinus infection all along!

Thanks for letting me share and thanks for another Helpful/Healthy Tip my friend!

I'm afraid that while the steamy eucalyptus makes my complexion glow, it doesn't help my sinus headache. I'm into meds and I think I've finally found the balance, 2 Benadryl and 1 sudafed and a tylenol. Probably a good thing that I don't drink.

Vitamin C helps a lot. I heard that the pro football players have to take 2000 mgs an hour if they feel bad. I have been doing that for years and it helps. (Also not staying up all night reading hubs and getting enough sleep.) -Carol

When I ran a daycare, I would put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a warming pot and keep it going all winter long. The kids in my care never had cold symptoms during the week, though they were often sick over the weekends. I would also add a few drops to the cleaners I used.

Kids who did come in with runny noses got a light massage, similar to what was shown in your video, and that really helped to keep the problems away.

Hey Art great tips. I suffer from sinus problems also but I think it's a mild (?) case only since I don't get that one week pain-behind-the-eyeballs kind of thing. Was never brought to the hospital also like dohn's ex gf. Honestly, after reading your hub, I don't know if I have a sinus problem or not. One thing is for sure, if I do have one, I'll try your natural remedy on the eucalyptus (mmmm, I love that smell). Oh and just a bit of the info, one (extremely expensive) remedy my doctor told me is surgery to clear my sinuses (I just asked, wasn't diagnosed for extreme sinus problems). Did you find such a treatment when you researched the subject?

now sinus problems are the absolute worse and gross! I know this guy in my class, whenever he has sinus issues and would blow his freaking nasty nose, like one finger on a nostril and blow into the wind! I wanted to kick him so hard in the nuts!! He thought it was funny to do that! yuck!

Great info Captain! Informative with your awesome humor to add!

I suffer just as you with sinus inflammation. Sometimes the only relief I can get is through applying a hot wash cloth to my eyes and nose.
