Site Build it - a Lesson in SEO

A few days ago a fellow blogger posted Site Build It Review her personal opinion about the Site Build It! web site building program. What happened next made a fascinating weekend! Her post admitedly contained some factual errors and the owner of Site Build It! made a very long comment pointing out some of them.

So far so good and Lissie admitted her mistakes but then a whole crowd of Site Build It! users posted threatening comments and things rapidly deteriorated. Being sued was probably the least offensive threat. Lissie understandably didn't approve the worse comments. Why you may ask are they so angry and upset about one blogger's post about this program? If they are happily using it to make money online what difference does it make to them that someone writes a post that, in her personal opinion, it is at the very least a rip-off and at the worse a scam?

It leads one to wonder if the reason they reacted this way is because they are making more money in commision by selling the program than using it.

One of the ways you can check if something you may be thinking of purchasing online is legitimate or not ( and we all know how many scams are out there to trap the unwary!) is to search for xxxx scam or xxxx review. Now, until last weekend, if you had searched on Google for 'Site Build It scam' you would have found over 5 million results so you might expect to find balanced views on the first page. Unfortunately if you are looking for honest information to decide if it is a scam or not you wouldn't have found it. Every one of the sites listed on the front page lead to landing pages trying to sell the program. Affiliates get $75 each time they make a sale.

Now enter Griz from How to Make Money Online for Beginners. While he made no opinion on the merits of the program itself he did dislike the fact that there was no way for someone who was looking for information on Site Build It! to easily find a genuine review or opinion as well as the way Lissie was hounded. Griz has many, many readers to whom he has taught how to make money online including how to get a site to no 1 on Google. So a call to action by Griz to get backlinks for Lis's post went out!

What happened next is a perfect example of everything he has been teaching his readers (for free I might add). Posts began appearing on blogs with in text backlinks (the best kind) to Lis's post with the keywords 'Site Build It Scam' Within 2 days Lis's post was no 1.

Now there are more than just disguised sales pages on the 1st page if you search for 'Site Build It Scam' or 'Site Build It review' thanks to Griz and his friends.

As well as being a perfect lesson in the value of backlinks, especially relevant in text backlinks, it is also a lesson in the value of having friends if you are trying to make money online. We should be helping each other to do well not threatening fellow bloggers just because we do not agree with their opinion.

Whether Site Build It! is a scam or not is irrelevant here. The point is that people searching for ways to make money online deserve to be able to find a range of genuine opinions so that they can make their minds up about buying the program. Thanks to Lis and Griz and his friends anyone looking for information in the future will have a better chance of learning the truth than they had before this weekend!
