We have all seen the reality TV shows where a real estate investor targets a rundown or undersized home in a nice neighborhood and in a few weeks, and a fairly large investment of cash, makes necessary improvements and alterations and turns it over for a quick profit. He or she then moves on to the next place and attempts the same. Each time the investor is betting a large amount of cash that the market will remain stable during the period of reconstruction and resale! The same practice is also, being applied to properties on the internet which is called site flipping!

A person with good internet reasoning ability and minimal SEO skills can accomplish a successful flip in two different ways. The first is very similar to the real estate investors methods. Find a site that has a good niche and domain name but is not generating any traffic due to one or more reasons. The two most common reasons is the fact that the owner or webmaster has no SEO skills or adwords capital. To accomplish this one must mine deeply into the internet mountainside. Sites that are on the first few pages of Google will be extremely expensive if for sale at all! Once uncovered, the buyer can make a reasonable offer for the site of, lets say for example, $1500. He or she then adds better content, drives traffic and gets a higher ranking and then sells the site for $3500. This process took about 8-12 hours of work and 6-8 weeks of growth time and turned a profit of 2000.00. Not a bad gain for a days work! The site re-constructor can repeat this process over and over. I have read actual testimonials where this was accomplished in only a few days.

The second way to flip a site is to simply find a good domain name that was allowed to expire and became available, build a site around it, drive traffic and sell it! That is taking a twenty dollar investment and turning it into a profit that can range from a few hundred dollars th tens of thousands for the right domain. Keeping an eye on recent trends and grabbing a domain works well also. For example when Twitter first came on the scene domain names with tweet in them were gobbled up faster that Perdue's chicken feed! Tweetnow! Tweetlater! Tweetme! How much could you get just for the name let alone a profitable site?

I have only revealed a small window into this highly profitable practice that has very low risk! The purpose of this article is to increase awareness of an underused financial resource! If you are interested in pursuing this as an endeavor I would suggest reading Site Flipping Gold for better insight and gaining the proper skill set! This business can be learned by anyone with basic internet ability and a little common sense!
