Six Characteristics of the Christlike Mind

ALIVE

"The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6

Christ mind is completely possessed by the Holy Spirit, that's why there is no room for him to satisfy the desires of the flesh. His mind is set or focused on doing the will of the Father. His mind is filled with the life of God. While the carnal mind is dominated by the sinful nature , and always thinks about satisfying the lusts of the flesh. It is hostile to God's will. It does not want to submit to God's discipline. This mind is death and will never please God.

SINGLE-MINDED OR FOCUSED

"My food is to do the will of him who sent me and finished his work. " John 4 :34

JesusChrist while on earth was focused on doing the will of God the Father. It is one thing that gives him ultimate satisfaction and delight. There is no other thing that satisfy him other than fulfilling the calling of the Father upon his life, even at the end it led him to crucifixion and death.

LOWLY

"Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had . Though he was God , he did not demand and cling to his rights as God . he made himself nothing, he took the humble position as slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dyng a criminsl's death on the cross. " Philippians 2:5-8

Being lowly means having the attitude of esteeming others better than yourself. A lowly person value other's interests and respect people whoever they are even though they have humble position or status in life. Humility follows lowliness of mind. Members of the body of Christ learn to submit to one another through lowliness. A church whose members are not lowly tends to be wary, shaky, lose the vision of Christ, direction and purpose. People who truly has an encounter with God are humble and lowly people like Moses. For these people have known their real condition before God. They have realized that all their glories were merely rags before God. The lowly Christian has the security of understanding his position under the greatness of God.

PURE

"And all who believe will keep themselves pure, just as Christ is pure." I John 3:3

The mind of Christ is pure, therefore he has a pure heart. To possess a pure heart, your mind first must be pure. As many says, our mind is the battleground. How can we maintain a pure mind in this wicked generation ? The answer is found in Philipians 4 : 8 ; "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whetever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things."

RESPONSIVE

The disciples of Christ lack distinguishing characteristics of leadership, they were not the "smart guys" but they were responsive to Christ teachings. The disciples have teachable heart. The Israelites cannot perceive God's word. Their understanding was veiled due to the hardening of their earts.Responsiveness to God is a must for spiritual qrowth. You must be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit . One of the things that harden people's heart is SIN. When there is a sin you do not want to give up, this sin will harden your heart. Another is PRIDE. When you do not want to admit your true spiritual condition before God, you will be hardened.

PEACEFUL

"The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6

"I have told you these things, so that in me you mat have peace. In this world you will have trouble."John 16:33

There are so many things in the world that will take away peace from your mind such as wars and rumors of wars, famines, economic crash, inflation, violence, sickness and pestilences and many others. If you are not at peace with God, all these things will trouble you. To enjoy peaceful mind, your mind must be completely controlled by the Spirit, so that it will be focused on the will of the Holy Spirit. Amidst raging storm, Christ remained calm while the disciples tremble in fear. Christ mind is the mind completely possessed b the mighty Spirit of God.

Some good points shared here although I believe it's easier for us to know God's heart than it is His mind. Since He lives in our hearts, our minds need to be subservient to our hearts..Juanita Bynam has a great book called "Matters of the Heart." I think people who overly intellectualzie things have a hard time really believing and knowing God (I'm not saying this about you though Cristina, I know you know and hear from Him).

Regarding your section on being lowly, I believe it is indeed imperative we be humble and resist pride (it's a deceptive stronghold) yet I don't know that I'd agree about always submitting...of course I don't agree with going against or disregarding decisions made by those in positions of leadership unless of course, it was crystal clear the decision being made is sinful.

To commune, seek Him - and His will - in all situations through PRAYER, believe this to be pivotal, monumental and powerful.

May we spend more time functioning from a heart of love, understanding what that means, yet being transformed through the renewing of our minds.
