Sixties and enjoying life

If you are sixty and you are still enjoying life, you are very lucky.  If you are twenty and you look at life too seriously that you don’t like to enjoy life, you have missed a lot in life.  Age doesn’t matter when it comes to how one looks at life and enjoys it.  Life on earth is so short that you have to make the most of it.  The way you handle things is what will make your life what it is.

If you are sixty, don’t think that you are already too old to enjoy life.   Life at sixty is more enjoyable and more interesting because this is the age when one is free to do what he wants in life.  This is also the age when your children are already old enough to be on their own and some of them have already a family of their own.  This is the age of retirement to most people and a time to enjoy life because responsibilities have been accomplished and you can have all the time to yourself.

I have a lot of friends in their sixties.   They are a bunch of young looking happy-go-lucky oldies that look at life in the most positive way.  They frolic and hop everyday as they enjoy life to the fullest.  As I look at them, they remind me of my carefree high school days when I was with my friends and we were enjoying the life of young people.  But these friends of mine are not children, they are in their sixties yet they take life easy and spice it with a lot of fun in their own ways.

They have a lot of time with each other since their children are all grown ups who are all working.  They often have breakfasts, lunches and dinners together and they are free to eat what they want.  Their meals together are spiced with much laughter when someone reminds them of their younger days when they were a bunch of naughty kids doing their own thing without minding what’s going to happen.  What was funny was that they often talked about how they were able to fool their parents that they were in bed at night when they were out with their friends.  They did it with their pillows covered with blankets to make their parents believe that they were already asleep.  The truth was, they were out somewhere enjoying the night with friends.

Looking at them and watching how they enjoy life, I often wonder if I could be like them when I will be sixty.  Their life is full of wonderful events that are keeping them healthy and young-looking.

I learned a lot of things about life from my friends.  They taught me how to take things slowly and not to take life too seriously.  One of them told me that true happiness is the secret of long life, and that there is no better way of feeling happy and enjoying life than freeing yourself from the negative thoughts and replacing them with happy and pleasant things.

Sixty does not mean getting old.  It is not the age when one has to worry about life.  It is the age when one has freedom in his hands.  It is the age when one can enjoy life to the fullest.  As a person grows older, the only thing that occupies the mind is having peace of mind, happiness and enjoying life.  This is what all my friends are saying.

Perhaps that is what life is all about.  But I don’t know and I’m not sure until I reach the age of sixty.  For now, I have to work hard and look at life seriously because I still have a long way to go and I am sending my son to school.  But perhaps when I am already sixty, life would be better then and I could make my life different.

Perhaps my friends are right, the way you look at life and how you manage will determine the kind of life you can have.  So, have fun and make sure you enjoy life before it is too late.

I also think that taking life too seriously might occupy our minds with negative thoughts.Life can be even better in sixties if one can maintain good health.Nonetheless, age can never take away our freedom of happiness.Excellent hub.

Thanks. You said it right. Age must not be a hindrance in enjoying life.
