How it all started:

Have you ever been intrigued as to how sports were born, from the early man days we humans have always had the urge to try something new, explore something unknown and see how far we have come? Every sport that is played in the world has a history and has its own influences in the way it has originated. Skateboarding definitely has its roots in surfing. In the early 1950's the surfing craze was at its full peak. Surfers wanted to see if they could do on land what they did in the water. The early board was in the form of a piece of wood block along with wheels attached to it. In the 60's the craze slightly dipped off but over the years it has soon become very popular again among teens and kids alike.

The present scenario in skateboarding:

Skateboarding has been a serious sports thanks to the major stars who have considered it as part of professional skating. It is a serious sport and the market is catering to all the skateboard needs now. This sport has been commercialized and has a huge fan base too. People who are not courageous enough to try this game, they enjoy watching it. It is an immense thrill to watch this sport. Three major industries have majorly benefited m from this sport are movies, video games and clothing lines.

Today's cinema has been fairly inspired by many aspects of life; some have taken its glimpses from sports as well. There are about may be hundreds of movies made on skateboarding.Lords of Dog town, Grind, Stoked, Tony Hawk's Trick Tip Series are major leagues for learning tricks in the cinema industry. However with the internet one can easily watch them in the comfort of the home, Youtube has been the repository for all the videos available in the whole world. Video Games

Video games and the gaming industry is one of the fastest growing and flourishing industries ever in the recent times. Humans who were alienated by skates are enjoying it in their computer games now. However the tony hawk series is the one that is ruling the roost. Every gaming console from Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Sony PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, Mac, to the cell phones, Tony seems to be everywhere.

There are many who are vastly emerging among the top they are Skate, Simpson's skateboarding and backyard skating.

Clothing & Accessories

Many love the look and spunk that skateboarders everywhere in the world adorn; now it is easy as you can copy their style in the apparel you wear. Hooded t shirts, thick shoes,rookie jackets, thin or baggy jeans both look equally trendy depending on your physical built. The other accessories that persons were are chain wallets and hats that make the entire hip hop look. The top brands in this industry are Vans, Etnies, Airwalks, Element, Zoo York, DC Shoes, Bilabong, Volcom.

For a person to be a part of the culture all he needs in a strong liking towards the sport. Many have the zest towards the adventure that is involved in performing the tricks and stunts and they end up appreciating the culture. Personally my kid is into this sport but I have always loved to watch them in parks and always felt a kick.
