71It is commonplace for people who work or volunteer for a business or organization to wear an ID badge. At lunch or at the grocery store on the way home from the office, there are a myraid of badges from companies large and small. Each badge is worn with a badge attachment. Some badges are worn with a simple badge clip. Other badges have a specialized badge holder, such as a fancy lanyard or secure holder.
One card that is more popular today that ever is the smart card. This card looks like an id badge, yet is much more complex. The card contains embedded technology that allows information to be stored, carried and extracted from the card. The information may allow a secure door to be opened, access to a network of computers, generate a detailed report or other specialized function.
A secure badge holder designed to allow a smart card to be read without removing the card from it's holder. This holder prevents possible skimming of embedded data stored on contactless smart cards.
