Skin and ageing - Take proper care
66The largest organ of human body the Skin is the one which shows the first signs of ageing, normally our skin used to expose the ageing effect by lines on it. But with some good right style and a bit of care you can reduce and delay the advancement of those lines on your skin. As you are not the same at 16 and at 60 it is also for the skin. How much care you take while you grow old it is also so much care your skin needs.
There are basically two types of ageing
1. Intrinsic and
2. Extrinsic
Intrinsic type of ageing is caused by genetic and because of gravity that makes the skin to sag and you get sleep lines.
Extrinsic type of ageing is caused by ultraviolet radiation, chemicals, and pollution.
Normally both the layers of the skin epidermis (the outer layer) and dermis (Inner layer), begin to become thin with age. Normally, the epidermis the outer layer, when become old renews itself on its own in about a month. But when we get old this process of renewing of the epidermis gets slowed, and because of this, the old dead cells that have not been replaced by new ones make the skin dull and ugly. Also the skin loses its tone and begins to look patchy.
On the other hand in the dermis normally the collagen and elastin help maintain the skin tautness. But these two fibres collagen and elastin become loose with age, oil production is reduced and the skin loses its moisture, and the skin begins to look papery.
And when you say that you care your skin, you should go for a good skincare routine which can take care of all these factors.
This is what you should do:
The best and the most effective anti-ageing modality is exercise.
Diet comes only next.
Make a habit to include at least two three servings of fruits and vegetables a day; and try to change your eating pattern to balance all nutritional requirements. Eat a variety to balance all.
When you say anti ageing skin care regime it must include (without fail) regular use of a sunscreen, which protects your skin from extrinsic ageing and as well as contains antioxidants to help de-activate the free radicals.
You can use Tretinoin as it works well on both layers of the skin.
To help your skin trap moisture and reverse both epidermal and dermal markers of ageing you can use Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) a class of compound that act as exfoliants, and help in the above.
Up to 15 percent of AHA can be had in over the counter medication; and anything more has to be prescribed. Check for content of either tretinoin, or AHA, or both in the creams that you buy.
Drink plenty of water atleast 7 to 8 glassfuls a day.
Consult your dermatologist.
