I find that eating smaller portions really works for me. I don't have to not eat the things I love. But less of them. I have low blood sugar so I have to eat about every 3 hours to maintain my energy or it just goes south! Great hub!

I saw a show on Biography channel that noted that the "old time" actress Marlene Dietrich...who had like an 18 inch waist her whole life, bragged that she only ate every 3 days and then very lightly. And, of course, she smoked like crazy! Such a pity I like eating (and evidently enjoy it too much)! Fun Hub!

I think thin is attractive if it's healthy thin. There's a lot of pressure on women to be so extreme though. Your portion size idea sounds very reasonable. I'm not a woman, but, I wish I could control portion sizes too. Hard for me to though. Once I get a whiff of, like, a big old burger it's just impossible to find the self control. Guess that's why I look like I do. LOL. I am happy though, I reckon that's worth something.

Great hub.There is healthy thin and unhealthy thin.The latter can become downright dangerously thin if taken to extremes.A good looking woman is not skin and bones she is curvaceous flesh without excess fat.There is a dividing line there where taking weight loss to the extreme is not in the least healthy and the skinny bones sticking out woman looks anything but attractive.What it boils down to is that anything can be taken too far and weight loss is certainly no exception.JM.

ALL the pictures of "skinny" girls on here are obviously unhealthy, they're WAY too skinny. Don't waste your time gazing at these girls.

Please, the worlds vision of beauty is so distorted. If you want to loose weight, at least go for a more healthier look.

"Healthy Thin" .. Yah it is tough to say. Apparently the "average" (whatever average means these days) body fat % for women is 22% to 25% .. I think body fat percentage is a pretty fair indicator or am I wrong? I mean world class female athletes get down to like 9 % or something like that which is really low but if women are somewhere between 15 and 25% wouldn't that tend to be healthy? Just a question I was wondering about. And it is true the camera (whether print or tv) does add 10 to 15 pounds to people so imagine how the women in the photos above look in real life !

Ok well, smaller portions for me don't work. Can't be done. I have no self regulator or its broken. Probably due to being starved as a child. Now I'm overwieght and starting in on diabeties. A low carb diet is pretty much all I can stick to. I need something that I can eat and drink a whole crap load of that doesn't = weight gain and that something has to also be as addictive as the crap that is out there. without any negative health implications.

I've been a zero many, many times. I cried because nothing fit me. I've always tried to gain weight. The older I get, the easier it is to gain a couple of pounds a year, though.

I'm healthy as a horse but I would kill to have curves!

I always find that interesting, how we all have different body types and what works for one person may not work for another when it comes to diets or foods that we eat. Some people eat like a bird watching calories and really only eat one meal a day and they still can not lose weight no matter how hard they try.

Then there are those who eat everything under the sun, piling on the junk food, calorie rich you name it and they can not gain an ounce of fat.

So I just came to the conclusion that it really is not so much the food we eat or don't eat or the excercise we do or don't do, because everyone has a different body chemistry.
