Sleep Help

How am I going to finish that project for my boss? What am I going to do about that stain on my shirt? What am I going to do about the kids, I can’t get there till 6pm? I can’t believe she said that about me, I’ve never done anything wrong to her! This may be a normal days thoughts, the problem is you’re lying on your back trying to get to sleep. Some sleep help is definitely needed.

Most adults have sleepless nights from time to time, by many have these restless nights of no sleep on a regular basis. Insomnia steps in to take control of their lives. Unfortunately, 40 percent of insomnia suffers end up relying on some sort of over the counter medication or prescription to get the sleep that they desire. Sleep medications can break the bodies natural sleep cycle by disrupting the brains natural wave patterns. Long term use can also lead to your body building a natural tolerance to the drug and in turn needed more of the drug to produce the desired effect. The real question is, are these medications really helping the person sleep with no long term health problems?

In many cases, taking medications for insomnia is not solving the underlying problem. Taking these medications for many people just treats the symptom and not the cause. It is this cause that needs to be treated in order to put the persons life back on track.

The racing mind, endless spiral of thoughts, stresses and anxiety are usually the main culprits of the insomniac. If people could deal with some of their daily pressures and anxieties they would be much better off. Although sleeping pills do have a place with some people in their particular situation, they should be a last resort. Try to deal with your daily stress and anxiety first, then reassess your particular situation.

You are so right that solving the underlying causes of ones inability to sleep is the answer rather than a heavy reliance on pills. The next step I guess is, "how to deal with these causes"

It's a good tip to write your worries down - it does seem to get them "out of your head" somehow. I also found Feng Shui helpful - it's worth trying!
