Sleep on it - A good way?

There is this couple who was always quarrelling over small little things. The husband would feel disturbed, trying to figure out where go wrong and who is at fault. They would not talk and see each other for some time. When they finally met again (through the cajole of some concerned friends), she behaves as if nothing has happened.

What happened to the wife? Why was she able to take it so easy?

In actual fact, after the quarrel that day, she simply went home and sleep on it!

That was her unique way of handling unresolved problems or conflicts - Sleep on it. The reason being "It was too confusing to think." There are many ways to resolve problems and conflicts and sleep on it is just one unusual way. Is this a good way to resolve conflicts and problems? Will the problems go away automatically?

Some of us sleep on big problems, some of us sleep on small problems, some of us sleep on all problems, be it big or small. We just hope that by not talking or reminding about the problem, it will get resolve by itself. It is similar to the thief who covers both his ears while trying to steal the bell. Why is it that we cannot face the problem straight in the face? How long can we escape from reality?

Life may not be a bed of roses, but if we can face the dissatisfactions of life without hesitation, we would be able to eliminate all the dissatisfication and find that life could be that satisfying after all. As what Helen Keller said, "We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world.". What is needed is the courage to face it.

You are right, of course. Courage is a very important ingredient for many things. Important but preciously rare.
