Stess contributes in a big way towards insomnia .Insomnia leads to depression and emotional disturbances. When we don't give our body enough rest, it shakes up the immune balance. Our bone marrow, blood and lymph contain cells that are part of the defense mechanism against bacterias, viruses and even carcinogens.
These cells, called T Killer cells or natural killer cells, constantly fight with foreign antibodies to keep our body healthy. They are synthesized when we sleep. Thus, stress treatment has a positive contribution towards on treating insomnia.
C-reactive Protein
When our body is deprived of sleep , the natural killer cells stop being generated in required numbers.Their percentage in our body declines thereby increasing our susceptibility to diseases and infections due to decreased activity of T cells and weaker immune response against the microbes.
The real damage is done when our immune system suffers irreversible damage due to lack of sleep.A C-reactive protein is an indicator of increased heart disease risk. The C-reactive protein has been found to increase in people suffering from sleeping disorders.

Sleep Well To Stay Fit
Chronic Sleep-loss reduces the ability of our body to regulate hormones. In an experiment ,sleeping hours of the participants was reduced from 8 hours to 4 hours. After a week's time ,symptoms similar to effects of early diabetes and advanced ageing were noticed. This is because sleep disturbances facilitate the pre-diabetic state of Glucose intolerance and Insulin resistance and leads to obesity.

Wow thanks for this great article Bluewings. It will help me a lot on regulating my sleeping pattern. (^^,)
This is very helpful, wings. All of these natural remedies are the way to go. However, I always pop a Benadryl or other antihistamine, lol.
It's an interesting site ,Tshirtscene.I read the article on sleeping therapy. Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome LW!
I hope it does,Aphroditei! I try to maintain my discipline as much as I can.
Yes,Creme.Pills can help.I try them as my last resort.
waiting for more hubs from u yaar!!
I will post it soon,Maverick.
hey Vik, you sleeped while chatting huh? hmmm...
About here in your post, well sometimes I can't sleep too when I am so excited about something ha ha!
You spilled the beans,Shayne!Lol Nah :-P The messenger had logged me out, lol.Oh excitement does that to me too.
I love sleeping, it's one of my favorite pastimes.
I think it was Asimov that wrote a short story about society utilizing science to elimate sleep. In his world, it was merely the dreams that humans needed, not the rest. People were taking pills to create short bursts of sleep with highly intense dreams. Then, things didn't stay so nice. We need our sleep!
Indeed! As biologically proven , it's during sleep that our basal metabolic rate is the minimum and our resources get replenished. If not for sleep, our brains would continue to be in a state of exhaustion every waking minute of the day.The break that our body needs to keep this machine functioning efficiently is what we call sleep. Thanks for your valuable comment.
I regularly sleep about 4-5 hours per day, now, before even less for many years. Even, if I want to sleep more, I simply can't. But, I have a brother, who loves to sleep much, much longer hours and I simply admire him in a way, how he only can???
I should say you have a lucky brother, lol.I used to sleep for 3-4 hours some four years back and I was paying the price for that during the last couple of years. Now whatever I've to miss, I try not to compromise with my sleep any more.
I have a very simple theory, considering sleeping. I sleep, when I am tired and I can't sleep, if I am not tired. I really don't complicate. I always have so much to do, if I can't sleep. Truly, I simply can't understand people, who are taking sleeping pills. That is just totally unacceptable for me.
Yes, I don't remember myself ever taking sleeping pills but then I do understand stress and insomnia forcing some people to use them.
That's a cool vid on EFT. I also think too that hypnosis is highly effective. I say anything that is non-pharmaceutical is better in the long run. Obviously we are all different though.
Sometimes I find myself not sleeping well when I am thinking too much of something. But I find sleep indeed to be a haven of rest. :) Good night bluewings. I'm off to dreamland in a little while.
Agreed Phil.Natural cures are still the best because the body doesn't have to cope with the byproducts produced during drug induced sleep.
Yes,I can relate to that Michelle. It used to happen to me at one point , but in recent times I can hardly count the minutes after closing my eyes.My bed must be having some organic sleep inducing properties, lol.Goodnight and sweet dreams:)
Great article...I have experienced lack of sleep..or even lack of "good" sleep (new baby in the house!). You definitely start to feel run down after a while.
(...and having trouble playing golf well too because of it !)
Mark
Thanks Mark. Yes, good sleep is a prerequisite for every sportsman for their reflexes to be well coordinated.A sleep deprived body fails to synchronize with the stimuli that the mind sends.
