PC Slow Scroll is a slow scrolling which happens when you click and drag using a mouse wheel or keyboard. The scroll will lag the movement of the mouse or keyboard and it may take 3 seconds to scroll a notch. It is usually very frustrating as it seems to take a whole life-time to scroll a page.

This slow scroll will happens in all applications such as Word, Excel, Notepad or any other program installed in the pc – it can be slow scrolling firefox, slow scroll internet explorer, slow scroll windows XP, slow scroll safari, slow scroll vista, etc.

Naturally, pc slow scroll will happen after you have re-installed or upgraded windows (usually Windows XP) but it is not a problem of Windows only. The cause is because of wrong drivers for your video card. When you do not install the right drivers for your graphic card, Windows will run its own basic graphic drivers which may not work well with your video card resulting in pc slow scrolling.

To fix pc slow scroll should be easy and straightforward.

1. Go to control panel, internet options, advanced and look for "smooth scrolling". Uncheck the box and click to apply. This may not solve your problem but it’s always good to do this first step first.

2. If No. 1 above does not solve your problem then you will need to figure out what kind of video card or video chipset hardware is in your pc motherboard. Go to control panel, hardware, device manager and look at the yellow “?” Yellow “?” means the device in question has a problem. From here you may intelligently guess the video card you have in your system. It can be manufactured by ATI, nVidia, Intel or any other manufacturer from China. If then you get the manufacturer of you video card then you can go to the website of the manufacturer and download the drivers for your video card free. You can as well open your pc and look at the physical video card/video chipset to see the manufacturer name. But not everybody can be willing to open his or her pc.

3. If you can’t find the make of your video card from number 2 above then the easiest thing for you to do is to download pc utility software from the web which will be able to tell details of all the hardware in your pc. “Dr Hardware” is good pc utility software which you can try by downloading (Google Search - Dr Hardware) the free trial version. Once you run it and you have all the details of the hardware in your pc you can uninstall it. The trial period is ten days. If you like it then you can buy it as your secret tech tool for your pc.

4. Load your Dr Hardware and locate you your exact video card name and go to the manufacturer’s website and download the exact drivers for your video card/video chipset drivers. You do this by loading Dr Hardware and going to devices, video, installed adapters and all the details of installed video card will be listed for you to have.
