Slow Digestion, Indigestion And Body Typing
72Our Body Type Can Determine Our Metabolic Rate
The Slow Metabolizing, Thyroid Dominant Type.
In order to best determine what your dominant gland is and what body type you fall into, check your local bookstore to see if Dr. Eliot D. Abravenel’s Body Typing book(s) is available. As a brief overview: most thyroid types have long faces, long fingers, long limbs and carry any extra weight, if they have any at all, around the middle like a belt. Their favorite foods are usually sugar based. Most thyroid types have bursts of energy followed by a need to take a break or rest until they can recharge. Many times people who are slow metabolizers and thyroid types will feel even less energetic after eating and then taking a nap or sitting. In those cases it’s best to take a walk or do other forms of easy exercise to help with peristalsis, the wavelike action of the intestines that contributes to digestion and elimination. A slow metabolic rate can add weight that’s extremely difficult to get rid of. Fat is many times more likely to be the breeding ground for cancers and other disease conditions than lean muscle mass. Recent research studies have shown that excess weight is a larger overall health hazard than smoking. If you’re a thyroid type and are also a slow metabolizer it could be that you are suffering from hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can be diagnosed by your doctor or by doing a basil thermometer test. Many people, who were very thin when young, find they have an excess weight problem as they grow older. This can often be traced back to their diet as a youngster. Sweets, particularly refined sugars, are what thyroid types gravitate toward because those are the foods that give thyroid types the energy boost. They are also the foods that whip the thyroid and deplete it. Our memories go deep and more often than not our tendency is to eat foods as an adult that gave us that quick energy boost as a child. Even though sweets are easily digested they cause other problems, especially for O blood type, thyroid dominant, slow metabolizers.Again, this is where the daily log is so important. It will help us discover which foods we may be allergic to, which cause indigestion and which have a tendency to make us tired after a meal or the next day. Any food, no matter how beneficial, can cause problems if eaten in excess, especially if we eat late and then go to bed before we have time to adequately digest our meal.If you’ve read any of my articles on depression, you can access a depression self test at www.larryRmiller.com and clicking on DEPRESSION SELF TEST button.
