Slum dog millionaire fails to show real India and Danny Boyle could have done better
66Slum dog millionaire won Oscrar for many categories including for best director, best original song, best music director, and best sound mixing. The film directed by Danny Boyle really worth applause? I am afraid the slum dog may create a bad impression on India especially for non Indians. Danny, you could have done better if you try to portrate one single shot that truly dipicts the glory and financial strength, and harmony of India. Any one cannot deny slums in India and the Dharavi, the slum for which the slum dog millionaire was based a real one. Being the second populated country in the world, India definetely struggles to provide comfortable shelter for every one. But the shelter problems are not as pathetic as shows in the oscrar winning slum dog millinaire. Slum dog millionaire won Oscar only because the film was directed by a British Director? The film would get so much attention and praise if it was directed by any of Indian? The film itself questions the credibility of Oscar Academy that forgot to grand Oscar award for Charlie Chaplin, the greatest actor ever born.
It is a fact that Slum dog millionaire is not the greatest film ever made based on India. Just read what Amitab Bachan had written in his blog on slum dog millionaire. It is unfornatunate that Amitab changed his mind after few days.
"This is a movie against India & its pride. The British director has shown how India is a horrible country. AR Rahman is a party to that British director, who together want to show our poverty, humiliation and child labor of India. This movie has some shameful scenes- kid jumping in pond of shit, people removing eyes of kids, elders Indian abusing kids, etc. The European and Western world is amused to see how pathetic country is India as portrayed by British director and AR Rahman. They want to give many awards to this movie to keep this dirty image of India alive. They have never chosen our earlier movies or Oscar. But the jury liked this particular move that shows how India is a cave age country. We should reject these awards and ban this movie".
Just forgot the opinion of ban and the comments made on the greatest musician A R Rahman. There is no meaning for criticizing A R Rahman for coopeating in the film. A R Rahman deserved Oscar today or tomorrow.
Danny Boyle only portrated the negative factors of India in slum dog millionaire. The film is a good entertainment for movie fanatic and for serious time killers. But slum dog millionaire has already hurt the feelings of many Indians. Please don;t think that we all are such a cruel people who abuse children. Yes there are criminals in the society like in any other countries of the world. Anyway congradulation for winning 7 grand Oscars.........................

Get a life you racist Hippocrates!!!!Get real!!!! Your country has the biggest slams in the world. The sad thing about it is the rich people don’t even recognize the situation to help the poor people. The classicism still exists in India. You people in power only care about the rich friends and family you have. You don’t give a shit about the one who are baggers in the street and bothering tourist who is coming in to your country.
The rich people abuse the poor. They hire them as a servant and house worker and abuse them in any kind of way. Most of them get bit like animal. Slavery may be over in America but still exist in India. Once An Indian lady told me that she used to bit her servant. How dare you to write about your pride.
The poor are so poor and it is understandable because of population. But, please admit you treat them and sell your own people for sex and you kill your own people for money. The rich treats the poor people like shit. You only respect and like your own rich ones and white people. Most of your movies are made in Europe. Look at your bars and clubs. Little children have been sold for rich man for money. Why are you only glorifying the rich part of your life? Yash chopra only make movies for the Rich people. That is why some body from out side has to come and show what is going on at your slam. Don’t get upset. Look at your problems and try to help the bar girls who are selling their body at the age of 8. Please help the baggers in the street .You need to give them something to eat. For your comment about your pride, please I am not impressed and I am not going to watch your rich glorified movies. I think most of you who live the life style of western are racist, Hippocrates and just plain rude. But. I love the humbled cultured and honest Indians who are poor and who work hard everyday to make ends meet. You have the most beautiful country in the world but you have the most corrupt people in it.

I agree with Tigi, I lived in India for 2 years and backpacked all over the country. It's ridiculous how the rich just trample over the poor sleeping on the sidewalks in Mumbai. In Delhi my host was so lazy she would call her servant from her work 3 stories up to come and open the refridgerator that was sitting right next to her to get her a litre of water. As you're walking around the cities children are running up to you begging for food and rubbing their stomaches, yet you can see that they aren't always starving. They definitely aren't well fed either but they have been given enough food to sustain stability. Why aren't these kids in school instead of on the street begging?

We have corruption, we have poor people, caste system still exists and believe it or not we are very very racist, we kick our brothers to serve the white and the difference between the rich and poor is beyond thought BUT.... tigi mentioned, she likes only the poor - now what kind of a racist statement is that, just because half of our country is suffering from severe economic problems, malaria, dengue, AIDS doesn't mean that only the poor are good. SLUM-DOG MILLIONAIRE was like any ordinary Indian film, there are far better films ones like Taare Zameen Par should be winning the oscar not SDM, but why did it win?

Hollywood has no more business, slowly every year their movies are decreasing, the actors are losing jobs or getting less paid and land prices are crashing! For example Sylvester Stallone is now acting in India and soon everybody is going to be here, SDM got the awards because a white person directed it (yes thats a statement.) but the Oscar is just an excuse for the industry to come to India and probably join Bollywood (Which again mentioned Tigi is true, only glamour and no acting!) Has anyone ever wondered how the oscars are decided - or who is the person or for what reason the movie is taken, it doesn't have any vote polls for people to select but just IS SOMEHOW selected... HOW??

It is true the slum is congested and the water is polluted but its not because the people done have money, the choose to stay there for some reason - A while ago government gave all the people proper homes to stay in, but they sold it and came back to Dharavi, why? Its not money, its lack of education. Child labour brings tears to my eyes, and that is one disgusting part about our government, all the taxes we pay are eaten up by corrupts and only a small fraction of it goes to our development.

Have you ever wondered why in India every girl wants to become fair, and the cosmetics sold here are more than USA,GERMANY,FRANCE,BRITAIN combined. Why? Its because some people decided to make something called the "Miss World" and gave the award to an Indian and that model was paid to sell cosmetics, so every Indian girl now wants to be like her. You will see first they were all Indians, then Chinese and now slowly going to Africa!!! Why only the developing countries - because thats where the market is! It is wrong to say India is bad, it is more appropriate to say India, has been bad (THE GENERATION OF CHANGE IS COMING, OBAMA!!!).

Where were these comments when Chameli and Traffic signal was produced in India showing worse pictures of India. Why did Amitab keep quite then. All such movies also should be banned and not shown to this world. Let us be ashamed as citizens of this country that such problems existed in the past and some do still exist in some corners of the country.
