Taking Flight
Introduction to flying: Natures Gifts
Flying has always been a fascination of man. Since the beginning of time we've watched nature's birds, insects, and even the "flying squirrel" as he lunges from one tree to the next riding on the air currents with his parachute like skin between his arms and legs.
We watch not only with intrigue but in utter fascination for their ability to escape the gravity of the spinning earth and take flight.
Many people knew intuitively that if these creatures could do it so could we.. we just needed to design an apparatus that could help us achieve the same physical qualities that our body's lack.
Many tried and failed but got back to the drawing board to figure it out. It was with the sublime passion of many and an unending drive and ambition to make it happen that allowed the first planes to come about.
Many of man's accomplishments have come to life by mimicking nature and the airplane is no exception. When the first airplanes came out people discovered a new human potential, one that had never been done before other than the hot air balloon.
The airplane was inevitable. Technically people didn't invent the ability to fly, nature did. We just learned to construct technologies that mimicked natures design.
Unlike the hot air balloon we could not only fly higher and faster but we had the freedom to do incredible tricks, and to move across the earth faster than anything on earth was capable of moving at that time!
Little did we realize back then how this would completely change how the world lived, traveled, did business, and more! The airplane would soon shorten the distance to anywhere.
The airplane became a time machine allowing travel to anywhere to happen in such a short amount of time relative to perception of the time to get to for example Japan from the United States. Although the expense was great, people were willing to pay it to see far away lands that before took weeks even months to get to. Now with an airplane you could arrive there in hours!
Traveling this way allowed people to go to more places in their life time and before long many great airline companies were built to do just that!

One good accomplishment inspires another
When flight was accomplished and still new the novelty of being able to fly wore off and a new drive emmerged. Now we wanted to "spread our wings" and test out our new capabilities. So many people were amazed by the airplane that this bred a whole generation of pioneers whom were excited to show people our true potential is unlimited!
Before long just flying for convienience and novelty wasn't enough. People had a new drive to see how far they could fly, and to even see if they could circle the globe in a certain amount of time. Flying became an amazing hobby, but soon people realized the commercial potential as well. With airplanes getting to far away places was incredibly fast, opening up the world of business, personal travel, and even sport!
Only the rich could afford to fly at first but this didn't stop those whom couldn't afford it from trying. The demand to experience the amazing world of piercing the clouds and seeing the world many only knew from the ground became an obsession to many.
Those whom could afford to fly started companies that took people on rides in personal aircraft, and it wasn't very long before people could take classes and rent time in flying a plane just for pleasure or to commute to another state, country or even a remote part of town to attend conferences, meetings or even a family reunion.
Today Anyone can Fly!
Today their are a great deal of ways to fly, including commercial flights to anywhere in the world, helicopter tours of your own city or other places like the grand canyon, and even an arsenal of planes you can privately own that are 100 times more powerful than the first planes.
Planes have come a long way since the first flight by the Write Brothers on December 23, 1903 (the first official recorded flight, although their were many years of "test flights") and today the Write brothers vision has more than become realized!
Today their are a lot of ways to get licensed and trained to fly the many wonderful personal aircrafts available for purchasing, much like any car is purchased only much more expensive and powerful. You don't have to own a plane to fly one either. You can rent just about any type of personal aircraft so long as you are trained and licensed to fly it, from many aircraft rental companies all over the world.
You can learn much more about the many popular personal aircrafts available at the "Small Aircraft Reviews" site. This website has very detailed information on several models of personal aircraft that you will find interesting and inspiring. You will find a great deal more information there than here. I don't think I could write an article as complete as this site so I won't even try.
I appreciate you visiting my hub and hope you have a wonderful day... If you do learn to fly I hope to see you up there! Maybe you will fly over my house one day!
Below are some great videos (for realistic feel of the flight use headphones when watching!) of take off and flight in a Cessna Skymaster, just one of the great planes that site describes.
