Come Up With Small Businesses Marketing Ideas
The World Around Us Is Changing!
There’s no denying it. The world we live in today is far different than
the world we lived in even 5 or 10 years ago. There are new products on
the market, technology is advancing rapidly, and the kinds of slogans,
ideas, campaigns, or advertisements that used to draw attention or
appeal to potential customers or clients just don’t do it anymore.
Business owners need to change with the times—and those who are on the
cutting edge or ahead of the times have the best chance of achieving
phenomenal success!
How Do You Teach An Old Dog New Tricks?
For business owners or employees who are used to doing certain things a
certain way—or producing a particular product for a particular
market—change can be very difficult. It’s not that they’re against
change. It’s just that they can’t wrap their minds around the need to
develop a new concept. So they often just go blank!
Tap Into Creativity—From An Outside Source
This is one of those times when it really is best to tap into the
creativity of outsiders—people who are not so close to the problem that
they can’t see the solution. You’ve heard the saying, “You can’t see
the forest for the trees,” and this is the perfect example. Business
owners and employees are accustomed to doing what they do, and they
often unconsciously limit their imaginations as a result. So when they
need to—or are asked to—develop new products, slogans, ideas,
campaigns, advertisements, and the like, most of what they do come up
with is very similar to what they’re already doing.
But innovative organizations—the front-runners in the business
world—need to get out there ahead of everyone else. They don’t want to
keep doing what they’ve already done. They need to break new ground! So
what you really need and want is a fresh perspective—something
radically different that will attract attention!
Some companies organize panels of customers, clients, or randomly
selected participants to come together in a forum where new products,
slogans, and ideas are generated. Others hire advertising agencies and
marketing firms to develop new pitches for their consideration. Still
others hold contests or sweepstakes to generate new ideas from a wide
variety of sources. And all of these are excellent suggestions—though
they don’t always generate the desired results. But each of these
suggestions requires one or more of the resources most business owners
(especially small business owners) have in short supply: time and money.
Sounds Good—But Where Do I Find That Creativity?
There is another alternative to finding outside talent that can provide
you with new ideas and creative proposals for your products, campaigns,
slogans, advertisements, and ideas! Post a creative project proposal
online to solicit input from creative talent worldwide. Find a
reputable resource—like ShortTask.com—that serves to link small
business owners and individuals who need creative talent with the
creative freelance talent they need—at a very reasonable cost. For
instance, ShortTask.com calls the businesses and individuals they serve
“Seekers” and the creative talent out there looking for freelance work
via the Internet “Solvers”—and they serve as the medium that links the
two together. ShortTask.com helps the “Seekers” find the “Solvers” to
help them with their creative—and practical—business needs. It’s an
innovative solution to an age-old idea: coming up with new slogans and
ideas! And where better to do that than through an innovative on-line
company that’s thinking outside the box with their own business model?

Hello I started a security company in Colorado in April 17th. I have received phone calls but never sealed the deal. Do you know of any recruiters that help security companies find jobs and take a percentage of the sale? Thank You. Do you have any additional tips for me? I have worked in this field for a long time and have noticed fallacies with in this industry.

Tammy is absolutely right. In small business, where you do not have large budgets, you better be creative. In our organization, we meet 2 times a month where we ask every associate to throw up ANY ideas they have in order to help us get more business. It not only gets us a gem once in a while, but helps our folks understand just how important and difficult it is to market and protect your image.
