Small tattoos are cute and usually first time tattoo goers will get a small tattoo.  For one thing they are cheaper, quicker to do so the pain you have to sit through won't last as long and that is pretty much the reasons.   Although tattoos are worn by more women than men the areas women opt for are the ankles, feet, lower back, back of neck.  These areas are quite small so obviously the tattoo to fit that area would need to be small too....  Small tattoos are cute and all women love cute things... Flowers, hearts, symbols, names, animals e.t.c

Tattoo studios are jam packed with small tattoo designs and you can bet your life the designs you find are already being worn by most of the population.  When looking for ink myself I would much prefer to have one custom designed so only I can have it.   There are also websites that only house tattoo designs that are exclusive to their site and are not distributed to other sites and tattoo studios.  So purchasing a design off a tattoo website you have more chance of not seeing the same tattoo worn by your neighborhood friends.
