Why do small businesses need factoring and where to get small business factoring

The small business are those which have been started by some entrepreneur thinking about some next big idea but at this stage of the funding you will need all sorts of money that is out there with which you can support your operations. Money and finance are the lifeline of any company and particularly so for the small business.

That said there have been very many sources of funding and getting money that most start up companies will not even look at the factoring as an option though I must say that I must say that it is a good way to get your accounts receivable factored by a good factor broker.

You can try the grants for small business that are available or you can get the venture capital or last but not the least you can try the bank finance or the corporate finance The challenge with the bank finance is that banks will look at either your reputation to fund or finance or they will look at the past history. Chances are that if you have past bankruptcy or you are a new start up then you will probably never get the bank loan.

To overcome that the best way is to make sure that you go for the accounts receivable factoring. The accounts receivables factoring will generally be done by the factoring companies if only you have some accounts receivable say about $10000 a month. Now there are some factoring companies which will be able to do factoring without any minimum limit as long as you are able to show an a r receivable from reputed firm or company. This is also known as cash flow financing or the cash flow factoring.

What are some of the good small business factoring companies?

There are a lot of specialized factoring companies that are available nationwide to help the small business. The rate that these companies charge will depend on the volume of the accounts receivable that you can give to the factoring company. There are a lot of companies that which are wholesalers or suppliers or even distributors supplying to other firms. They can go in for the purchase order factoring or the purchase order financing. Then you can also go in for the government receivables factoring which will mean that you can show the invoice raised to the government body and get the instant money.

Another set is the transport financing or the freight factoring where by if you have Transportation Company or the trucking business. There are companies which specialize only in trucking finance or the trucking freight bill of lading finance and that will give you instant money to cover the trip and et money for fuel and repairs.

As a small business who has small medical practice you can also get the medical receivables funding from the factoring company as there are insurances claims that will only get paid after three months and till that time you can easily be sure that you have the cash to survive and even expand your business.

The most common type of factoring though is called the invoice factoring whereby you have the invoice which you raised against the government department or the reputed commercial business company. The invoice is likely to be paid after 30 days and mostly after 90 days. For that intervening period you can get the money by sending in the invoices to the factoring company and getting the money now. Now generally the factoring company will not pay you full amount of the invoice and will only pay 85% and this is known as invoice discounting.

The cost of factoring can range from 0.5% on a monthly basis to about 3% on a monthly basis.
