Quit smoking with e-cigarettes
Quit smoking with e-cigarettes

Somke away on the cigarette without much danger to yourself and your surroundings...

It sounds like a nicotine skewed claim, but is nevertheless a selling argument for a new addictive product which popularity is increasing.

You can buy Chantrix here if you decide a quit smoking pill is better for you.

The so-called electronic cigarettes, or simply e-cigarettes, at a distance resembles the well-known tobacco rod. The cigarette lights up when you smoke it, and smoke comes out of your mouth when you breathe out.

But instead of tobacco smoke is water vapor, and man in ekshalerer. This is why smokers get pleasure without smoking-related diseases, the promise of suppliers that offer a range of tastes.

Sales began on the Internet, but within the last five months has come steaming cigarettes on the shelves of supermarket chains and a number of kiosks country.

What is so good about this product is that it helps smokers in situations where they were before leaving the premises to smoke.
E-cigarettes contain only water vapor and aromas, so there is nothing unhealthy in them

Nicotine prohibited
The Danish retailers have e-cigarette does not contain nicotine.

In that case, they are classified as a medicine and sold as medicines like nicotine gum and patches. This decision was taken by Lægemiddelstyrelsen in October last year.

Company Nycigaret.dk complained immediately to the Ministry of Health and Prevention and has been granted a derogation until the decision to sell e-cigarettes with nicotine.

"If you just removed one of the negative effects of cigarettes, so have a better product on the market. E-cigarette gives the illusion of smoking, but without the 4,000 harmful substances, which are tobacco cigarettes, "says Mikael Rosans, director of Nycigaret.dk.

To the left a traditional Camel-cigarette tobacco, which burned as smoke. E-cigarette right includes battery and emits water vapor with flavor. The producers are E-cigarette without tar and the 4000 opmode harmful additives in regular cigarettes.

He finds it 'absurd' that the deadly cigarettes are a stimulant that can be sold from all Danish kiosks and petrol stations, while the much less harmful e-cigarettes with nicotine through a lengthy approval process as a medicine.

It is a medicine
Now Mikael Rosans however acknowledge that the authorities have turned thumbs down to his arguments. Department of Health and Prevention has confirmed that nicotine-containing e-cigarettes are a drug and therefore can not be negotiated without the approval of the Danish Medicines Agency.

The decision authority is leaning up against World Health Organization's recommendation. WHO drew up last month a Guide on e-cigarettes, as member countries can use as a guide. Here WHO writes that fundamental lack of scientific evidence of e-cigarettes pros and cons.

Documentation missing
'The producer claims about health benefits or fewer health risks in comparison to cigarettes should be banned, unless their safety is scientifically proven to the authorities' satisfaction', writes WHO.

Cancer Society also has no evidence that electronic cigarettes do not contain other harmful substances. In addition, the organization fears that the e-cigarette smokers will not have to curb their tobacco consumption.

Recommend chewing gum and patch
"If people are moving to e-cigarettes and completely quit smoking, it will most likely be positive. But it is problematic if you just use the e-cigarette in those situations where you normally can not be allowed to smoke. It is no less dangerous to go from 20 to 10 cigarettes a day, "said Niels Them Kjær, project of the Cancer Society.

Instead, he recommends the nicotine preparations, which health authorities can control, such as nicotine gum and patches.

Acceptable Choice sell e-cigarettes with and without nicotine, and find that the authorities' decision is contrary to the Danish public health.

Connection to passive smoking
"Last year 2,000 children were hospitalized because of passive smoking and there were 89 death fires due to smoking tobacco. If we could just replace 50 percent of the cigarettes e-cigarette, it would benefit the Danes, "says Jørn W. Phigalt, Director of Acceptable Choice.

Senior Consultant at Gentofte Hospital pulmonary medicine department Philip Tønnesen has 30 years research into smoking cessation. He finds e-cigarette-ranging in form and content and has taken first steps to create a larger study of them as a means of smoking cessation.

More effective for smoking cessation
'As an alternative to smoking, electronic cigarettes clearly preferable. And I would not immediately estimate that the water vapor you inhale, may be dangerous, "said Philip Tønnesen.

Because the product simulates smoking may prove to be even more effective than other nicotine replacement products, said Philip Tønnesen:

"In 90 percent of cases Monday smokes cigarettes because of nicotine addiction. But the habit and taste-related experience of smoking also come into play, "he said.

Philip Tønnesen and the Cancer Society stresses that nicotine in itself is not carcinogenic.

Not a stimulant
"But the consumption of nicotine increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, so it is not something to be used as stimulant," says Niels Kjaer Them from the Cancer Society.

There are still over one million smokers in Denmark and 1.1 billion worldwide.
