I woke up with a serene, happy contended feeling! Why? I had a wonderful dream! I dreamt of a beautiful green world, flowers in the meadows, crystal clear streams gurgling by, fresh clean air and people with calm, contended countenance, in total harmony with each other.. smoking peace pipes! A sort of tranquil peace enveloped me at this picturesque world. With this overwhelming feeling, I was awakened! I made myself the usual morning cuppa and settled down to watch the world news on TV. Something is drastically amiss! There seems to be just violence everywhere - terror strikes, war, genocide, massacres and so on and so forth. It's so very depressing. Then, I thought about my beautiful dream.That’s how God created it and thats how it should remain. Why did we change? Can it never be the same again? Why not? I know I am being an extreme optimist, but then, I truly and sincerely believe that if each one of us makes an effort it is possible! However, primarily, we have to condition ourselves to believe that peace begins with us. I read the following somewhere, which did have a great impact on me…

‘Peace begins with me!
We are the people we’ve been waiting for.
We are the miracle we have been wishing for.
We are the prayer we have been praying.
We are the dream of which we want to live.’

It’s that simple!

If we just close our eyes and visualize the world in peace and the people of the world working together in accord, smoking peace pipes, we can feel the peace and be motivated .Each one of us should believe that we are a pillar of peace or maybe even the cornerstone of peace!

Nonetheless,our motto should be, ‘Live and let live’. We should learn to tolerate the diversity of people, cultures, beliefs and ideas.Never ever imagine that you are alone in this quest for peace. There are billions of peace-loving people throughout all the nations of the world, who are searching for peaceful solutions to avoid war, to eliminate terrorism and tyranny and to establish justice for the people of all races and faith.

Above all, we should leave a safe and peaceful world as legacy for the future generation. If we want the future generations to be blessed with a world founded upon peace, then, we should teach our children to love, respect, and to be kind to each other. We should instill values like tolerance and forgiveness in them. Teach them to love where there is hatred, friendship where there is enmity and justice where there is oppression. Teach them that peace begins with them and that it is humanity’s rightful legacy. You should not only teach them but, set an example to them as well!

Besides, never ever forget that technology always brings out really powerful weapons, which is soon superseded by more powerful and superior ones, but then there can never be a weapon which will be superior to non-violence and love. Also never underestimate the power of words! Words inspire, stimulate and transform the human heart. We do need power and strength,but then, we need the power to be gentle and strength to be forgiving!

Is it so difficult to help each other and not harm each other? Is it so difficult to love your neighbors and not to misunderstand them? Is it so difficult to tolerate each other? The cause of violence is all about hatred, mistrust and intolerance. Just believe that we are all one. We are bonded to each other. How can you harm another for the other is bonded in oneness with you?

If we can just smoke the peace pipes together with people of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures, then, we the people of the world will be joined together in a joyful celebration of Life! After all we do breathe in the same air, receive light from the same sun, exist in the same planet –a planet created by the same Superpower who is known in many names.We all do belong to one big global family!

Is it so very difficult for the world to have peace? No, certainly, it is not! Just smoke the peace pipe with one another and every one in this mighty planet should believe and say, ‘Peace begins with me!’ And there will be peace!
