Smoking Everywhere Electric Cigarettes Review Are They Safe

Response from ECA about the fda

The Alternative to Tobacco.

In 2008, electronic cigarettes boomed in the UK and took Europe by storm then it made its way to the United States where the sales of Electric Cigarettes have sky rocketed prompting the FDA to consider more study of the long term side effects of electric cigarettes and health. Currently the FDA wants to have sales pulled in the U.S because there isn't enough study done to know it's long term effects.

As a smoker, let me put it to you this way. Nicotine does not cause cancer but the carcinogens in tobacco do. By now, smokers and non-smokers know that chemicals such as cyanide amongst others are added to tobacco which are the real killers. 90% of all lung cancer death is linked to smoking tobacco.

Here are you choices

My opinion of the situation with the FDA wanting to yank e cig sales from the market is because they need to make their money. If we already know that smoking regular tobacco cigarettes will cause death or lung cancer amongst other ailments such as emphysema, birth defects, premature birth and even fetal death, and the product has not been banned, then it would seem that the electronic smoke is the healthier alternative to smoking.

Most all electronic cigarette sales are made online. If you can find a smoke shop that does sell njoy electronic cigarettes, you are probably going to pay at least 10% more for the product. And yes, you still have to be 18 or older to purchase the e cigarette because it does contain nicotine. When all other products have failed such as the nicotine patch, gum and smokers sensations hot-lines or pricey Rx from the doc... all approved by the FDA and containing nicotine, then why not go with the electronic cigarette.

The electronic cigarette looks like a real cigarette and contains nicotine and water. When you inhale, the battery heats the nicotine cartridge which mixes with the water and creates a vapor that looks much like cigarette smoke but it's just water. All you inhale is nicotine and water vapor. A very small amount mind you. You probably inhale more water vapor on a humid day then you do with these things.

Who Sells Electronic Cigarettes?

Like I said, most sales of electronic cigarettes are made online. Amongst the many different brands of e cigarettes are Njoy by Smokers Everywhere, Blu E-cig, Envy Bliss and Marlboro flavored electronic cigarettes by E-Health Cigarette.

The starter kits start out anywhere from $40.00 up to around $200.00 they all come with nicotine refill cartridges, are reusable and you can smoke anywhere you want. Being a smoker, I know that it is really hard for me to quit out of habit. I am 31 years old and have been smoking since I was 14. That is 17 years of my young life dedicated to smoking and many years on the quit smoking bandwagon which has been a total fiasco. And why? Because smoking is a part of my life, my daily routine, a function in my life.

While I may not know if I am truly addicted to nicotine, I absolutely know that the act or the sensation of smoking is what I always miss when trying to quit which keeps me coming back. In my twenties I know every time I went out with friends to a bar the only thing I could think about when on the "I quite smoking wagon" was how much I just wanted to njoy a smoke. The act of smoking while drinking. And I am pretty sure that more often then not, it's the sensation or act of smoking that keeps smokers locked.

Plus, since you can smoke everywhere with the electronic cigarette, I get to smoke in bars again!

Alternatively I can say that I will probably never quit because the act is too powerful in my life but I do know that with the electronic cigarettes you have the options to use as much or as little nicotine as you want and you can ween yourself off of nicotine altogether and after a while probably give up the butt for good. So it's either one of two things; I will get lung cancer if I keep smoking expensive cigarettes at $5-6.00 a pack or I can e-smoke for about a $1.00 a pack and not get cancer.

The choice is simple really. Now all you have to do is pick which e cigarette company you want to go with. Again I would like to add that if the FDA approves the use of nicotine patches, Rx meds, nicotine gum and other alternative, help you quit products so you really have to ask yourself why the FDA wants the electronic cigarettes pulled from the market. I doubt very much they want it pulled for safety reasons. *wink*

So njoy smoking everywhere get on the Electronic Cigarette wagon before tobacco takes you.

This was really interesting - I had no idea this existed. I have been an smoker on and off for so many years and it's good to know that there is an alternative that may not kill me as fast. :)

Just hearing this for the first. Pardon my ignorance. I am just concerned about the health implications. Could it be any different from the normal tobacco which is dangerous to health???????????????????

Hi Philip, that is the question being addressed in the hub. Is it safe. Yes. The FDA, federal food and drug administration, approves the use of nicotine (a mild stimulant) in other quit smoking products such as the patch and gum, and it is perfectly safe.

The Electric Cigarette is completely different from tobacco. Tobacco has cancer causing additives in it that make it lethal. Those chemicals such tar is what gets stuck in your lungs causing the black lung.

Everytime you smoke tobacco, you actually inhale millions of tiny particles that also get trapped in the tar in the lungs and this is all bad.

With the e-cig, you don't inhale any of the cancer causing chemicals, and you are not inhaling particulate matter into your lungs which causes a serious of ailments.

Either way, e-cigarettes are much, much healthier than smoking tobacco, there is no doubt in my mind about it.

I am very fascinated by the e-cig. I too have attempted to quit many times. Is there a taste to them? I want to buy a pack but how would I find out which kind - if I want to buy something comparable to a VA Slim Ultra Light? Any ideas? I'm really picky about my brand and don't want to be stuck with something I don't like. THANKS for info!

sandra rinck profile image

sandra rinck  says:

Actually you will be please to know that you can make it taste anyway you want to.

Any of them will work. They use nicotine cartridges so that you can use as much or as little as you would like in your smoke. So ( from what I remember about Virgina Slims..not my brand) they are very, very light, and you like ultra light so that is super light!

The cartridges come in different flavors too and even Marlboro. I think I have a Marlboro flavored on up in the hub. So yeah, you can pick anyone that you want and get the cartridges separate to suite you needs.

Good luck to you. I hope to be with you on the I quit smoking with the e-cig bandwagon. :D

I'm 71 and have been smoking since I was 18. The result-emphasyma. I've been trying to quit, on and off, for the past 20 years with no success. I've tried hypnosis, nicotine gum, Xyban, the patch, and the patch with the Xyban equivalent drug. My doctor has been helping & supporting me, but still no luck.

I'd never heard of e-cigraettes. My doctor suggested I try them. He indicated that the risk of lung cancer and the other related problems of cigarette smoking were 5% due to nicotine and 95% due to the tar and other junk in them. I started using e-cigarettes 2 weeks ago and my breathing has already improved. I am finding that they satisfy all the same sensations and needs as real cigarettes.

Since my doctor urged me to use them, I'm sure the don't have other harmful contents. I sincerely thank him.

I recently bought the Smoking Everywhere starter kit. It came with the low dose nicotine cartridges. I have since ordered and received the medium dose (much better). I did have a problem with one of the battery components, called their toll free number and was assisted by a service rep. I returned the faulty piece and it was replaced within one week. I've read a lot of negatives about this company. I've had good luck with them but do agree that the cartridges wear out faster than I'd anticipated.

Overall, the e cigarette is working great for me. I started using it three weeks ago and have smoked about two packs of real cigarettes in that time and have gone the past couple of days with none. Good luck to everyone who is giving them a try.

Hey all,

So far I am not impressed with the company Smoking Everywhere, Inc in Sunrise, FL. I ordered my elec ciggs on the 21st and they told me they would be delivered in 3 to 5 days. It has now been 10 days and nothing! I called after the fifth day and they claimed they would be delivered on Mon the 28th. Now it is the 1st of Oct and nothing! I hope they come and the service is better than it has been so far. It suprised me that it has taken so long to deliver since I live in FL an hour away from the company. Maybe I need to drive down and see them in person.

Thanks for the ear!

I have been smoking for 30+ years and have tried a lot of the approved methods gum, patches, cold turkey, and the American Lung Association quit smoking program but none of them worked. I bought an electronic cigarette and within 2 weeks I had stopped smoking real cigarettes. The electronic cigarette satisfies my nicotine and psychological needs completely so I have no urge for a real one.

Sandra I am a smoker on the brink of quitting. I've been cutting back my daily intake slowly but surely. I know that smoking is not good because of all the carcinogens and God only knows what else may be in these killers. Granted, it's true, surely the Government doesn't want to lose their piece of the pie when it comes to tobacco sales but I believe they also consider this as part of population control. My thoughts about electric cigarettes are that they can't be much better. How about all the chemicals and poisons contained in the batteries powering the cigarettes? Is Electricity good for you to inhale? I surely would not want to ingest battery acid or the chemicals used to produce batteries. I think I'll just stop altogether. This is only swapping one bad thing for another. Fact is neither regular cigarettes or electric cigarettes can be good for you. Think about it..

There is some irony in banning a product that is more "safe" than the existing products being sold. But it wouldn't surprise me as money and lobbyists get their way. I sell e-cigs as an affiliate. I only know of one product that is manufactured in the United States... the rest come out of China. The market in the United States last year according to their own Industry Supported Group was about $100 million.

I'm sure big tobacco will use the same logic to prevent this as was used in the alcohol industry. They will claim that flavors attract kids and that means they should be regulated by the FDA. Crazy how things that are bad for kids are somehow okay for adults as long as you are profiting from them.

The FDA study only looked at 2 brands so far. I'd expect more regulation as the popularity increases.

Think about all the States that are using Cigarette Taxes to fund their in house Health Care and other programs. They don't want to lose that money so you can expect resistance from them as well.

Electronic Cigarettes are overpriced still... they should drop in price as production and popularity ramps up.

sandra rinck profile image

sandra rinck  says:

You make wise points Mike. I appreciate your comments. The whole thing is ironic and again it is so nauseating that tobacco pays helps fund health care but doesn't cover those who use the product and wont support a transitional tool that in turn would... ugh, it's so obvious and telling it like it is doesn't actually get through to people either.

But rock on and keep informing.

First off, great article. I would like to tell you what my doctor told me about nicotine. I was diagnosed with blood clots in both of my lungs and almost died (I am only 26). He told me it was from smoking and taking birth control. I corrected him that I had been quit for quite a while before being diagnosed. He asked me what I did to quit. I told him I used nicotine gum. My doctor told me it is nicotine in cigarettes that make red blood cells sticky and contribute to the formation of blood clots. So if you take birth control, just be careful how much nicotine you take in. Nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, and ecigs are just as dangerous for women on birth control. It is the nicotine that contributes to the blood clots. If you aren't on birth control, go for it! I'm all about it. I just think there should be a little more warning about it to those it applies to. Once again, thanks for the great hub and good luck at quitting. It's a hard thing to do.

I'm all for trying these and will look them up immediately since I haven't been able to quit - but one caution for all of us - be very careful what you write. Sandra said "With the e-cig, you don't inhale any of the cancer causing chemicals, and you are not inhaling particulate matter into your lungs which causes a serious of ailments." Even bad air can have dire effects on our very delicate lungs and breathing air that has water mixed with tobacco WILL contain particles that are not healthy for the lungs and can contribute to a myriad of health problems. Sorry folks, from the article, yes it's a much better alternative but it isn't the holy grail of "no consequences".

Hi Sandra,

Just joined your fan club!

I'm in Australia and our equivalent of the FDA have banned electronic cigarettes! They only skimmed over the supposed health issues and focussed on saying that ecigarettes would make smoking attractive to children. Isn't that backwards, a child sees mummy or daddy stop stinky tobacco smoking, start being healthier but decides to become a smoker????

I despair, I've never had huge respect for politicians or bureaucrats but this is as dumb as it gets!

Linda

PS I'm lobbying, I have put together a template email for OZ smokers or concerned non smokers to send to the politicians.
