So this story begins in 2008 on April 20th, 4/20. For those that don't know 4:20 is a counter-culture or underground symbol for cannabis or marijuana. 4:20 is the time when a group of kids/people used to meet to smoke pot and this transformed into something bigger, aided by the push of The Grateful Dead(more on that in another article).

So, it was April 20th, 2008 and I was in Amsterdam, the Cannabis capital of the world. So I decided to spend my 4/20 celebration at Grey Area Coffeeshop, where the owners happen to be American and the clock ALWAYS reads 4:20. This was a GOOD move. Upon entering I was greeted by a local Dutch man "Bill" who is the nicest, craziest, most fun person you can meet. He is yelling "4/20, 4/20, Happy 4/20", as the date of April 20th is well, the National Holiday for American Cannabis smokers/users and now is expanding into other countries. I move typically to the front counter to greet the owner Jon and his buddy and co-worker Adam. I give them the excited "Happy 4/20" myself and quickly ask "what they have special for today?" Jon lets me know he has a small amount of L.A. Confidential, which at the time was a hard strain of herb to come by in Amsterdam. I quickly purchased the 3 grams max he let me buy and 2 grams of the Grey Haze. I was stoked and ready to enjoy my "Amsterdam Coffee" when Jon called me over and asked me to do him a favor. I said "Sure" and he asked me "To hold down one of his tables for some important guests. I didn't ask who and sat down and began to prepare my "coffee". At that point my cohort and friend Mike came and sat down and told me that Jon just informed him, "Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson were coming in the shop"! I was immediately stoked for that. I mean listen, 4/20 in Amsterdam is a big enough dream, a great enough adventure in itself, now Snoop and Willie! Well, we waited and waited, rolled up favor after favor for Snoop and Willie to arrive for the 4:20 light-off, but NO Snoop or Willie for the 4:20pm kick-off on 4/20. We had an assortment of blunts, joints, and bowls, bongs, and vaporizers ready to go. Not to mention a 30 gram joint prepared, which is another whole article, another whole story( coming this week, stay tuned). So the 4:20pm party got on the way partying with some locals who hang in the Grey Area CoffeeShop, myself and a few friends, and ANY and ALL customers who showed up during the cypher! So the huge joint was shared and it felt like it burned forever, for sure for over an hour straight(Again, see the Grey Area, 4/20, joint story and video, this week). Jon still assured myself and Mike that Snoop and Willie were coming! Then in a swoop, the store was cleared by Jon and Adam and Mike and I were told we could stay. That fast, the shop was cleared, and who swags in, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson, of course. The ONLY bad part of that day is by the time they showed up my camera literally died while I was taking pics of them or trying to after we smoked. I got a few but none are great, but Yes, i smoked, not ONLY with Snoop Dogg, not only with Willie Nelson, but Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson together, at the same time, same cypher, same table.
