Have you ever asked yourself the question “why do I snore?” often? Well, then it’s your lucky day because your question is finally going to be answered. Well, basically, everyone snores. You’re not alone. All people snore occasionally because it’s just the way things are. Snoring doesn’t concentrate on a certain kind of living and breathing creature, because all things that sleep snore sometimes. The real annoying thing is how frequent you snore.

There are many different causes for snoring. One cause of snoring is the excess tissues in your nose or throat. This tissue is also called “floppy” tissue. This floppy tissue is most likely the cause of your snoring if you snore with your mouth open. To relieve this, don’t sleep on your back and it’ll be ok. If it doesn’t work, then find a way that you’ll sleep with your head tilted a little.

If it still doesn’t work, then maybe surgery can help. Surgeries like Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP), tonsillectomy, and adenoidectomy help in widening your airways and removing the floppy tissue. This can really help in curing your snoring. These are different operations by doctors using a scalpel, laser, and microwaving probe to remove floppy tissue from the throat or nose, remove the tonsil, or adjust the jaw. Though it may sound scary, at least it can help a lot in your snoring problem and it can give your spouse, or your live in partner – if you have one – a good night’s sleep.

Another cause for snoring is your tongue. If you sleep with your mouth closed, then your tongue might just be blocking the way. Tilting your head a little should do the trick. Unless you also want to cut your tongue off, follow my advice. It’s not that hard to follow, anyway.

However, there are different causes for snoring that are within and outside our control. Snoring could be hereditary. Your family could have a history of having narrow airways which is one of the causes of snoring. This cause is outside our control. Also, aging can be a cause for this annoying condition because as we grow older, the airways become narrower; this is also a cause outside of our control. Drinking alcoholic drinks and smoking cigarettes and cigars could also cause snoring because these relax the muscle in our throat thus making more floppy tissue; these causes are within our control. These are only a few of the real causes of smoking but these are the most commonly known.
