Stop Snoring: Prevention is Better
Snoring
happens when a person breaths through his nose and with an open mouth.
Through this way of sleeping, a variety of sounds are made - from mild,
to moderate, and to heavy or excessive, so much to the point of
disturbing anyone sleeping beside them, to as far as someone living next door. When the person
breathes in an out through either one or both airway passages which is
obstructed, then snoring happens. The noise is generated by the the
soft tissues of the throat, and, or of a collapsed tongue, causing
these to vibrate with each breath of air. Most snorers are not aware
that they snore, and it is often the sleeping partner or someone else
close.
It
is common knowledge that most, if not all health issues and concerns
can be avoided by doing preventive measures. This statement holds true
in the case of snoring, as the condition can be stopped in its tracks
before it gets going, and its drastic and harmful effects curtailed if
caught early on. One major cause for snoring is when a person has
gained or put on a hefty amount of weight, which causes many health
related problems and conditions to appear, like snoring and sleep apnea. The first step
to prevent snoring from affecting anyone is to keep a normal body
weight, through observing a healthy lifestyle and having a healthy
diet. Individuals should exercise in a regular basis, eat nutritious
foods such as vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and also get enough sleep
and rest when needed. When one does this, the use of dieting pills and
following fad diets can be put aside and forgotten, as when the body
gets all the good stuff in and gets its daily dose of exercise and rest, it can easily digest and burn off the excess fats, thus keeping one lean and mean, and in the pink of health.
The way a person positions his body during the sleep period also plays a vital role whether or not snoring can happen. Sleeping on one's back may make someone snore, especially if they have a blocked airway passage from a severe cough or cold condition. And if someone already has a history of snoring, the position can exacerbate the condition, making snoring more pronounced in all manner possible. Sometimes, people who have the habit of breathing through the mouth while asleep makes snoring happen. This can be avoided by closing one's mouth, but should they have a problem doing this, various snoring aids specifically designed for such problems can be purchased to keep the mouth closed during sleep.
Today, there are many helpful snoring solutions on the market which can
be availed readily to help address a case of snoring caused by a myriad
of reasons. Although prevention is a far better option than any cure
created by man and modern science, there maybe many cases wherein
hereditary reasons step in which the individual can do nothing about,
making preventive measures for snoring an exercise in futility.
