I just got "A Hundred Million Suns" today and have listened to it on repeat at least twice already.

I liked Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open" (2006) and never got sick of hearing "Chasing Cars" on the radio or on reruns of Grey's Anatomy, but I think this album is much better!

Rolling Stone (October 30, 2008 issue) says the album is named A Hundred Million Suns because "one million suns aren't enough for epic rock like this."

"Crack the shutters open wide I want to bathe you in the light of day,

And just watch you as the rays tangle up around you face and body.

I could sit for hours finding new ways to be odd each minute,

'Cause the daylight seems to want you just as much as I want you."

"The planets bend between us, a hundred million suns and stars

The sea filled in this silence, before you sank those words

And now even in the darkness, I can see how happy you are."

Even though "Please Take These Photos From My Hands" is a real jam, the lyrics make me nostalgic for my college days - "One gigantic fairy tale, of friends I haven't seen in years, drinking 'til the daylight hurts..." - and reminds me that sometimes, some things are best left in the past.

"Disaster Button" is another rocker that conjures up memories of concerts, parties, and good times with friends. "And suddenly it lifts the roof off the place, it puts a volt in my step, and a grin on my face."

This album is so easy to listen to, that before you know it, you're listening to "Lightning Strike" - the epic 16-minute final track on the album. The song builds and builds for the first four minutes or so, slows down, and sounds like it's tapering off a little after the 5-minute mark. Then another melody begins and it almost sounds like a completely different song! The melodies continue to change and weave together throughout the arrangement, but the song is still nice to listen to; it's kind of like a Snow Patrol sampler platter - a little bit of everything.
