So, 2012 is just 4 years away. How are you preparing for the end of the world?

Stephen Hawkings says we must colonize space in order to survive

Part 1 of a documentary on the 2012 thing...

While writing the last blog, I had a thought..

That thought was, what if this, all of this...was just some kind of conspiratorial strategem to prepare the Earth for the end times.

All of what? you might ask...

All of it...

The internet, Mars, Barak Obama, Oprah, George Bush, the mortgage crisis, the war in Iraq, the price of oil, the Sex and the City movie, Kanye West, The Matrix, Hubpages...

You name it, they planned it!

The internet is just a way to store all of our knowledge before the end of the world, which the government has always known is going to be in 2012. The 3 most viable candidates for U.S. president just happen to be the most anomalous in U.S. history...

Barak Obama (not just Black, but African!)

Hilary Clinton (a woman)

and John McCain (the oldest man to preside as U.S. president if he actually wins)

I won't even remind you of Mitt Romney...

No matter who the president ends up becoming, it will be...let's just say, it will be "different".

Imagine being the president knowing that the world is scheduled to end during your term...

...talk about PRESSURE!!!

2012 people. Mark your calendars is what I'm saying.

You have precisely 4 years to get laid, smoke your last cigarette, see the world, tell your secret crush that you love him/her, quit your job and curse out your boss, become the president of the United States, write a novel, star in a movie, get on TV, lose 100 pounds, whatever you put on your "bucket list" needs to be done RIGHT NOW!!!

THE END IS NEAR!!!!

(P.S. I actually had a lot of profound thoughts last night. And no, I was not under the influence of any elicit chemical substances. Yet another one of my divinely inspired rantings will be posted in my next hub.)

As we prepare to pass the center of the Milky Way in four years, we still find that people regard security more importantly than liberty. Little good will it do us to have people with guns offering us protection from people with guns just so we can merely die without having lived.

It is still a good bet, however, that the world will not end in 2012. If the calendar restarts, you win; if it is the end, you don't pay!

Cigarettes always taste better after getting laid!

Well there's an alternate theory to that December 12, 2012 thing...It's not that the world will END per se, it'll just mark the beginning of a new age. And since our presidential candidates are ground breakers in some shape or form, as you've said, it definitely seems that there'll be some changes.

Since that date I just mentioned is when all of the planets will be aligned, there have been other theories on what could happen such as....humans undergoing a new mutation or evolutionary step, there being a polar shift (which we're WAY over due for), the Mayans got bored/ran out of room (one of the more humorous theories). I doubt the world will end, kind of like the Y2K scare, but it will be interesting to see what changes do happen.

But I've never smoked....Maybe I should have at least one before then just to be safe ;D

2012 can't be the end...the Olympics need to be held in Chicago in 2016! THEN, I can accept the end of the world a happy man.

The end of the world means...the world as we know it. I still believe that we make it what it is, so we have another chance,(as we do every moment of every day of our life) to change for the better.

I prefer to look at it as incentive to bring about more positive change in self and hence for the world :D

Good Hub...keep on hubbin' !!

The end of the world will be on a different date for each one of us. The second comming is a sure deal since we're all gonna die. The end could be tonight for any one of us.

Crazy way out hub. I'm your fan.

Well, this frees me from planning anything great or trying to make it big. LOL Great hub. Although I've lived through a few "the world is ending" years so I am not planning to see any end except my own.

Just like the Y2K Disaster that never happened, this is just another date (albeit rooted in some interpretation of the Aztec and Maya cosmology) that reflects the time's general uneasiness and our insecurity. The world may end tomorrow or a million years from now, but the 2012 date means nothing.

When the end comes, I bet we will be entirely surprised and unprepared. Perhaps an asteroid, or a plague, or a sudden nuclear war may wipe us out, but one thing I am sure of is that we will not see it coming - which is why it will kill us. If we really could predict it, we would take steps to prevent it.

When there is a radical shift in one's perception (paradigm shift), the old world ends and a new world is born.

as long as the sun is yellow we will be here, when the sun turns into a red giant and collapse's into a blackhole then the world will end.the sun is the clock that tell's how much time we have left.IF you are trying to put a exact time on earth based on the prophecies, then you must know this, the calander date, the year and time is not the true date no one knows what todays date is really, one prophecy says that when the world ends it will be during a time of world wide peace, and prosperity, why are their so many people waiting on the world to end anyway?god created the earth and the universe, and science has proven that the universe is still expanding if that is true that means god is still working on his creation,do you think the animals and insects is sitting around trying to figure out when the world ends?do you think that god is sitting around waiting for a certain time to destroy us?the prophecies says that only 144,000 thousand people are going to heaven.what about the rest of the world?do you think that 99.9% of the population is going to hell?doesn't the bible say live for today and do not worry about the future?don't you know that men of power have added their own oppinnions and rules into all the holybooks?as long as you are alive you are blessed.so enjoy it because we all have to die one day.
