A Reminder of Where Does The Time Go
47A Reflection Past and Future
A Reflection Past and Future
I remember, not so long ago, when she sported pigtails and freckles. I remember, not so long ago, when she could raise the hair on the back of your neck with that high pitched little girl's voice in glee. Just look at her now.
As I watched her take her place to say I do, I could not help but reflect back on the not so long ago. I could not help but have a lump in my throat as that young man took her hand. Wow, where does the time go?
Well, it is done, she is wed and I will smile when people say "Your too young to be a Grandmother" and I will grin when they say "No way, a great grandmother" and they give me that wonderfully puzzled look. I have an outlook for the future too, when they stop commenting, and they no longer act surprised....then by GOLLY I will keep my mouth shut and quit telling them!
You can't stop them from growing up but you sure don't have to always play the game.
So, I hugged her and wished her well from the very depths of my soul and I handed her a recipe that my Grandmother gave me. It was called the "Two Step Bar-b-Que" and whispered these words to her "Run everyone out of the kitchen because you won't want to miss a STEP". I smiled, then she smiled that little girl smile at me and said "That's so cool; I knew you would keep it light".
I watched her walk away and it was like the commercials you see on TV; I could picture that 4 year old little girl with a smile that would always warm your soul. I think that is similar to flashbacks, so I am told. I immediately scheduled an eye appointment for myself.
Hmmmmmmm, where did the time go?
